Since I already posted the template of Rimuru Tempest, I also have to post the built version as well, so you can see all the details and parts of it (like I promised). So here is the assembly version of the cute Slime king :D
The papercraft is unfolded to about 25 cm, meaning that the throne is 25 cm high and Rimuru about 24 cm, since he is in a sitting pose. It consists of a 3D Rimuru model is sitting pose, with his separate 2-sided coat, his 2D scarf, his separate 3D slime self, a 3D throne and a 2D simple red carpet.
I started by making the simple 2D red carpet, since there are only 2 parts to glue together to make it. It’s an optional piece if you want the throne to stand on it and have that throne-room look, but since it’s included, I also made it.
Next, I made my way to make the throne. The throne is actually made out of 6 separate cylinder/box shapes, that you first glue together as separate pieces. Once you have all 6 boxes assembled, you just glue them together at the right places to make it stand like that. Nothing really hard to do, all you need is a bit of patience to let the glue dry and hold the pieces in the right place, and the throne seat is ready as well (if you are not sure how the pieces go together and you are assembling them with my template PDF files, you can always take a look at the 3D preview version of the papercraft, found in the template link bellow).
Next, I made my way to make the small Rimuru slime. This one is also quite easy to make, it has a squashed sphere shape, so just glue the parts together from top to bottom and at the end close it with the bottom piece, and the slime is also ready.
Last part of the papercraft is the main character that sits on the throne, Rimuru in his human form. This one is obviously the most time-consuming and a bit difficult to make than the rest.
I started making it by gluing together the face parts and the neck. Once that is finished, I separately made the front bangs of the hair and glued them on the face flaps. Next, I glued the remaining hair parts of the head from top to bottom. Since the hair part has a invisible hole where you make it, it is really easy to put together at the back, since you have the open hole to help yourself with all the time. When you do this, the head part is ready.
Next, I made the separate hands, arms and gloves for the hands. Just build them beforehand and leave them for the last part, since this way it’s way easier to assemble it with the coat. So built them, don’t put them together yet, and leave them for later.
Moving on I made the upper torso of the body to about ½. When you got the upper part ready, you make the separate scarf (that consists of 3 black striped you glue together), and once you have those, put them on the neck of the head you made before. Then glue together the neck with the upper torso part and join it from the inside of the torso, making sure to glue the flaps from the inside where you put through the neck. Leave this to try a bit, and then put extra curled-up paper parts (from the excess templates you cut it out from) in the neck to keep it safe so it doesn’t bend or anything. After that part is secured, you can glue the rest of the torso on the body and half of Rimuru is done already.
Continuing, I made the separate coat and the separate legs parts. The coat has a 2-sided texture, so you can glue the inside of it on as well, since I only glue half of it on because I wanted to finish the work faster for the preview. The legs are a normal procedure for any humanoid papercraft, start from bottom to top, and when you got all parts glued together and the shoelaces on as well, you can fill the inside with weights if you want to (although he sits well without any extra weights inside).
Now that we have all parts of the body, it’s time to put them together in the right order. Start by gluing the leg part to the torso, gluing it to the inner side of his hips. When the glue dries, you can then put his belt on. When the base body of Rimuru is assembled, slip on his coat. The coat stands without any additional help of glue or anything, so it should stand nicely on his shoulders of the torso.
And now comes the final part. First, put the assembled body on the throne, so you have a reference where the body is leaning on. The left arm is leaning on the throne and the right arm on the Slime. Glue both gloves on the arms first. Then put glue on the flaps of the arms, and push them inside the coat sleeves and angle the right corner of where the arms should stand and let the glue dry. After that glue the hands on the arms at the right angle, making sure the arms and the hand are leaning on the throne and slime, and you will get a precise pose of the papercraft. This way it’s super easy to make the coat, without having to think how to glue it on the 3D body itself, and it’s way more precise as well.
And if you finish it like that, and put all the parts together, you get a result like the one in my picture :) A sitting human Rimuru with his slime self on his throne.
The nice part of this papercraft is that it is very versatile. I find sitting papercrafts to be actually more versatile for putting anywhere on display in your room, because they don’t fall over and they look super cute just sitting on the edge of your shelf or table. Also, you can make all the parts or just the ones you like, for instance you can just put the slime-version of Rimuru on the throne, or you can put Rimuru on the throne and give him something else to hold. Just use your imagination and pose him with whatever you would like.
