Just look at this adorable cat-maid cutie!!! This is the new anime adaptation of the anime »Di Gi Charat« that came out yeeears ago and is now again being adapted to a new show named »Reiwa no Di Gi Charat« that is starting this October. So, since I love the anime so much, I wanted to be the first to make it before the start of the new series and here she is :)
If you compare it to the old design of Dejiko (as the main protagonist is called), she is quite more mature and grown-up as the old one, as well as having a much more detailed dress and cosplay props and has a different, much more pastel and settle color-palette. I actually based this design off the few preview illustrations of the new anime as well as the new Vtuber MMD model of her that way launched this year as well and is hugely popular in Japan. The pose is also referenced from a preview picture shown in the Vtuber Dejiko stream. So, it’s kind of a mixture of both, while making her in my own papercraft style as well.
The papercraft template itself is unfolded to 20 cm and has 6 pages to print. It consists of a main 3D model of Dejiko and her 3 3D bells that are just glued on like that as well as some 2D 2-sided bows for details.
The dress part actually consists of 3 layers of skirts, since the design of Dejiko is that way. So, this way the papercraft can be split into at least 2 parts to make the assembly simpler. You can divide it to make the head with the 3D hair, the hat, the gloves, the arms, the dress part with the first layer of the apron, the second layer with the blue dress, the third layer with the white frills, and then the legs all separate and then just glue them on one by one to make the built really simple.
The papercraft doesn’t really have any smaller, fiddly parts, except maybe the smaller 3D bell on the neck, the 2 fingers on the gloves and maybe the back pointy hair parts. The 3 layers of the dress do need to be pre-bent a bit to make them look nice and frilly as well, so I would probably give this a 5 or 6/10 on a assembly difficulty scale, depending on how well you are versed in making humanoid papercrafts.
***This is a premium papercraft that you need to purchase in order to receive the PDF and blank PDO files for assembly. – You can find all information about the PayPal purchase in the provided upper outgoing link.***
In any case, I hope I hyped the coming of the new updated Di Gi Charat anime a bit and that you’ll give it a go in watching it :) Look forward to seeing her cuteness on screen in the assembly preview I already made as well and that's going to be posted as soon as I can.
Hope you enjoy and happy crafting~
