Cotton papercraft

Another blast from the past, who can remember this little cutie? It's no other than Cotton, from the Cotton game series that were hugely popular in the 90s in Japan. It's one of the classic shoot'em up games that were so awesome to play on the retro consoles, and a bunch of spin-off and newer games were made for it as well!

So, if you don't know her yet, you can look up the older or newer games (10 as far as I know exist, some exclusive for arcades, some you can play on emulators or directly on PC and a newer game is being released in the future as well) and you'll get hooked in the cute story in minutes!

The papercraft is unfolded to 22 cm and has 10 pages to print. It consists of a 3D model of Cotton, 3D and optional 2D hands, a simple 3D candy she collects in the games and is crazily obsessed with, her 3D broom with optional 2D straw for the broom to make it look more broom-like XD, and an optional 3D stand where you hook in the broom to let her float, but she can also be hanged from twine to make her float in your room as a display, since she is a witch and witches love flying.

The main girl figure is best glued on the broom to make her hold the pose, and I w ould also put some weights inside the 2 feet so she isn't constantly tilting on one or the other side, so she is balanced equally on both sides. And as said, the stand is an optional afterthought, since she is meant to be displayed hanging from twine and a ceiling.

Starry Sky Witch OC built papercraft

Long time ago I made the OC witch-elf:

and I finally managed to make the assembly of her :) So you know the drill, here come the tips & tricks to build her.

ASSEMBLY TIPS:

With any of my papercrafts, you can divide the assembly into separate parts: the head with the 2 tails, the hat, the arms, the upper torso, the mascot Dust (Sky) Bunny, the legs, the boots, and the dress.

If we start with the head, you assemble the face and neck first. Then you glue on the front hair and last the back hair. Then you need to assemble the hair tails separately and leave those for later.

Next you can separately build the 2 arms, which are sleeves-only (YAY XD I hate making 3D hands). When you got those, set them aside and start gluing together the torso around the shoulders. When you have all these parts, glue on the first few rows of the torso on the head and neck part you did before, then glue on the 2 sleeves and build the rest of the torso to the belly part where the dress is supposed to start.

Now that you have the upper torso, we come back to the 2 tails. The easiest way to do these: Put glue on the flaps of the 2 tails and place them inside the hole. Additionally, to that, *pro-tip: you reinforce the tail from the inside by taping in wire in the 2 tails and then when the glue dries, you tape the end part of the wires inside the head with tape as well. This way, the tails will hold 200% and you don’t need to worry about making them in the beginning and attaching them on the model, since they would be in the way.

Next step is to make the dress part separately and after you have that, put glue on the flaps and glue it inside the torso part.

Set this now aside and move to the legs. You do this part by assembling the legs from bottom to top and finish with the buttocks part. And when you have this part done, glue the legs on the pre-made separate boots at the right angle. Then glue all the leg part inside the dress part again and the 3D figure is done. I also suggest adding some weights inside the boots to make her stand nicely.

All that is left is to add the add-ons, the 3D bunny and the hat. The hat is really easy to make and you don’t need to glue it on, as you can see. It holds just fine on its own on the head. Same goes for the 3D bunny ball that you can either glue on the hat, or move around for fun or pose it anywhere else you like :P

And now we got the assembly. Isn’t she super cute? Damn I loved Doremi so much as a child XD

                    

ASSEMBLY TIPS:

As with any of my assemblies, start from top and move to the bottom. And since she has a nice dress, you can also divide the build into separate pieces: The face and neck with the back hair, the hat, the 2 hair buns, the hands, the arms with the cuffs, the torso with the dress, the legs with the cuffs, the 2 boots and the add-ons (magical tact, the cape and the broches).

Start by making the face part first and add the back part of the hair and the neck. Make sure to glue on the down side of the hat’s shield (the shield without the flaps) on this part as well, so it’s easier to put together later. Put aside and glue together the 2 separate buns and then the hat with the other upper hat shield part (the shield with the flaps). This way, simple glue together the 2 hat parts, glue on the buns and the note broch, and the head is done.

Next, you can put together the 2 hands/gloves. You have the 3D as well as the 2D version (I assembled the easier 2D version here). Put aside and build the 2 arms with the cuffs next. Also put aside and assemble the upper torso part first. The torso is very thin, so you’ll have to use some tweezers or sticks here to help yourself for this part. When you have the torso, you can glue the head with the neck and the 2 arms inside it. And once that is dried, glue on the remaining part of the dress and then glue on the 2 hands on the inner side of the cuffs.

Then come the legs that you build with the cuffs on, and then the separate boots. Build the bottom and glue the 2 legs inside. And before gluing on the 2 boots inside the legs cuffs, put in some weights to make it stand nicely.

All that is left are the add-ons. Build the magical tact either as a 3D version, or cut off the outer flaps and make it 2D as I did here. Last is the cape, that you assemble the front part separately, and the glue together after you put it on the neck, since you can’t place it else. And it’s done.

*NOTE: This papercraft has very thin limbs and a nimble torso, so it is meant for experienced papercrafters only, since the parts can be very fiddly and can break easily. I really recommend extra patience and time with this build. But very well worth it in the end, as you can see. She is such a cutie, I love her.

Gardevoir Espeon witch (Pokemon) papercraft

Gardevoir Espeon witch (Pokemon) papercraft

Ginjika are a really nice source of inspiration for many papercraft ideas, including this one. This is a redesigned Pokemon made by combining mega Gardevoir and Espeon and turning it into a witch. And this is how it looks.

           

The papercraft itself is unfolded to 20 cm and has 6 pages to print. It includes a base Gardevoir 3D model, with a simple 2D hat, her 3D staff, some 2D add-ons and a simple stand under the skirt, so she stands without any problems. Relatively  easy to assemble since it doesn't have any super small parts or fingers.
