Emilia (Re Zero) built papercraft

You have seen the anime, you have seen the papercraft template, you have seen the 3D papercraft preview, BUT have you also seen the papercraft assembly? Well, now you have XD

May I introduce my latest assembled papercraft, my designed “Emilia” from the popular anime “Re: Zero”, which, if you don’t live under a rock, know that there is a new series being shown every week right now, so join the hype-train people XD Love the anime.

Since the series is ongoing and I really can’t wait to see more info, especially on the 7 new witches, I decided to make Emilia to calm my nerves a bit and to enjoy and appreciate the series even more.

The papercraft is unfolded to 26 cm, so she has a comfortable height to glue together. Some small parts, but nothing dramatic really, a rather easy built, compared to some other humanoid papercrafts with fingers etc.

As with all my assemblies, I started with the face and neck. Once I had that glued, I made the olng hair and all the cute little head details, such as the 2D braid, the hairs, the 2-sided ears, AND her rose ornament. Really loved to make that, and it’s actually super easy to make, since it’s only made out of 3 different flat pieces that you just glue together and on the head. And with some minor bending of the petals, it looks like a real 3D rose. Really love the detail of this the most of all the parts.

After I got the head, I made the separate hands first. And after the hands, I made the separate arms with the sleeves. The sleeves/the purple frills are kind of fiddly, since you have to manually bend them, so they can look natural on the sleeve, so it’s a bit fiddly and time-consuming. In my assembly I made the sleeves only with a 1-sided printed color, but I added an additional color for a double-sided print of the frills in the template, so when you assemble it, the frills will be colored on the inside as well, with no extra assembly effort, since they only need to be built once. Added this later on after I already built it, so my frills don’t look as nice and purple as they could have. But they are still the right form and everything, so they still look.

When you got the sleeves and hands, you can glue them together at the right angle by just slapping on glue on the flaps of the hands and adjusting the right angle of the arms in the sleeves, and there you go. No additional effort to be super precise about it, since that part isn’t seen in the built papercraft at all. So, a real time- and nerve-saver :) And after you got the arms all joined together, I made the upper body next. I made the upper body so I could join the arms I did before on it, and build the rest of the flowing cape/dress.

When you got the upper body/torso done and when you got the head done, you can easily join them at the neck part. Simply put the neck part with the flaps inside the hole of the torso and pull a bit through, and when it’s inside, glue the flaps from the inside of the body and turn them over and glue it tightly on the body. – At this point don’t forget that there is a decorative neck-part with the 3D green crystal as well, so build those separately first, and when you are about to put together the neck and the upper body/torso, just slide that on to the neck and glue the flaps of the neck on. The neck decoration is shorter than the whole neck, so it should fit on easily and just slide it all the way back, so you have space to really firmly glue those flap parts of the neck inside the torso.

Once the glue dries a bit, I always put additional curled-up paper bits inside the neck, because it’s the smallest part and can be easily bent if not careful, so be sure to reinforce that part when you assemble it yourself (and add the small 3D crystal o

When the upper body is made, all you got to do then are the 2 skirts and the legs. I built the 2 skirts separately, and first glued the upper frilly dress on the body. The second skirt will be glued on the legs when made, because joining the whole papercraft in the hips, where the skirts meet, is 100% the easiest way to do it.

I made the legs separately, by starting from the bottom. Built the boots first and make your way upwards till you get to the underwear. Since her legs are slightly bent, I recommend putting in weights inside both of the legs. That is why I built the legs separately, and put in some small pebbles inside, so they are sturdy enough to carry the weight of the upper body.

Once you have the legs with the weights inside, glue the second wavy dress on the underwear flaps first, and then glue the same flaps with the upper body inside the skirt. Again, since the parts are not visible with the finished papercraft, just slap that glue on and adjust it together at the right angle. And there you go, all done.

One of the easiest papercrafts I have done recently, so it was really refreshing making her. And she looks adorable, of course :) Sadly I got to say that the Beatrice papercraft I also made out of the Re: Zero series is bigger than Emilia (since I did make her bigger because of all the details), so they don’t fit together 1:1, but I still got 2 characters done from the anime, so that’s a win for me.

Beatrice (Re: Zero) built papercraft

This is it people! The pinnacle of this year’s papercrafts I have assembled myself and probably THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND DIFFICULT thing I have ever made (although it’s only the beginning of January 2021 XD). I love this one so much, and she is definitely at the top of my papercraft designer’s life goals so far! --- Plus, maybe some of you noticed, she was the only one missing from my newly released banner that was made to synchronize each and every papercraft page/site of mine and that was shown as a small sneak-peek for the now released assembly.

I have spent 3-ish days to make her, so she is really the most complicated thing that I literally spent gluing 1 flap at a time, to make her smooth as silk and figurine-like as possible. And the outcome is really great. BUT she is a challenge to make, a 9/10 of difficulty, definitely. So, I will explain the assemble process a bit to maybe give you some tips if you are thinking of making her for yourselves:

 
As with 99% of papercrafts I built, I started at the top, making the face first, piece by piece. Once that was finished, I glued on the front hairpiece on the flaps, and made the back part of the head and the neck.

Next, I made the little petite swirls/twirls of hair, which have some points to hold together the form and that you glue, and made sure to put some flat wire in it, so it will hold on. I do suggest to put something in between the 2-sided swirls so it holds on the head, because it’s just glued on like that. So, my solution was to cut small incisions on the head where it needed to stand, and put the wire inside the head and glued it with tape from the inside. If done neatly, the wire doesn’t show and you get nice compact swirls of hair that will stick on for the rest of your life, 100% :)

Then I build the small crown and glued it on her head, added the 2-sided ears and the head was finished. Once I had that, I made my way to make the 2 arms, since it’s always fiddly to make fingers. I made the arms and made the inner side of the sleeves, that are glued to the arms. Then, I made the outer sleeves with the pink frills, and simply glued the inner part of the sleeves with the hands, on the inside, and you got yourselves hands with frills. That is a small shortcut you can make to make this built easier, and it definitely makes a difference in speed and precision as well, since you can adjust it the way it fits.

After I had the arms, I made the upper torso of the body, glued on the head and the arms. Next you need to make the remaining part of the torso, making sure you build it from the middle to the outside, because the middle part has frills, that need to be glued on extra. And on those frills, you then glue the torso stripes around the body, and on the already glued parts. Then come the upper parts of the dress, and the upper half of Beatrice is almost assembled.

Why almost, because you need to assemble the cape part that you just put on like that separately. Not really hard to do, but be sure to make it neatly, since the cape shows at the end and it needs to look its part. It also has those 2D poms for deco, so I glued those on at the very end, where I already put the coat over the shoulders.

Btw. the cape doesn’t need to be glued on the shoulders, since it holds it form like that, but I do suggest you glue it together with a small point of glue at the front where the pom comes, so it looks neat.

After this part only come parts that can be built separately and glued on the main torso part, and that are only really time-consuming, because the pink frills need to be neatly folded to fit on.

In any case, I made my way to make the bottom dress, making sure to know how the dress folds with the frills, so they actually look like frills. And after that the feet, which are again maybe a bit smaller to make, but since I was building those from bottom to top and you have the hole at the end where you need to glue it together, it’s actually easy to assembled because of that.

I do suggest if you are doing to build it, you follow these steps and make the legs separate, because it’s easier and at the end, if you see that it maybe will not stand or anything, you can add small pebbles or gravel inside the legs, so they stand really firmly. Since she has support from the bottom part of the dress, weights are really not necessary, but you never know.
In any case, once all the parts are assembled, glue the bottom dress on first to the top dress part of the torso, and at the end glue the legs at the waist part, making sure to adjust the angle to make her firmly stand that way.

And all that was left to do at that point are the extra books, which are add-ons if you would like her to look like she is in her library. I made all of them. 11 books in total (10 normal simply boxy ones, 1 open book) and her extra empty gospel book that she holds in her hands. The gospel is blank, since it was also blank in the anime, but you can write or draw in whatever you want really, I just left it blank. And since it is made that way, and you can see in the pictures, the book actually stands alone in her hands, without needing to glue it on. They are hooked in her hands like that, and does not fall off.

At the end, there are also a few 3D bows to put together, in her hair, and the bottom dress, and once you have those, the papercraft is finished.

Mostly the papercraft is hard to make because it needs so much time to be assembled, because it has many extras and fiddly things. Also, the torso part where you need to glue together upper torso with the extra glue-on frills at the middle, the hands and the head with the twirls are very fiddly to do, so you need extra patience for that. Plus, I suggest to reinforce the neck part with extra paper on the inside, especially if you want to glue on the twirly hair at the end, so the head doesn’t sink in with too much applied pressure for that.

There she is really, a pink beauty, waiting to be swept away from her books and out into the world. I really can’t wait to see her in the January season now and how the hell they are going to get out of that mess they made, damn. It’s a complicated plot XD

I dare everybody to try to make her, it is definitely one of the most satisfying builds once you get there. This one will be displayed in my own showcase at home for years to come.

Since these are assembled and built simple version papercrafts of my “Bird flock” project, these are really easy to do and super-fast. Each one of these birds took me less than 1 hour to make (including cutting out the pieces) and there are 8 in total, if you want to make all of the flock. Those include: 2 cockatiels at 16 cm height (including their crest), 2 lovebirds with 10 cm, 2 budgies with 9 cm and 2 finches with 8 cm of height.

Since they are super easy to do and done in no time, I also recommend these for children to build, if you want to get them interested in papercrafts. They are fast to make and fun to play with, so give it a try with your little ones if you want.

All of them are basically made the same wax, you just make the separate 3D boxy body and close it and since it has a hole on the bottom, it’s really simple to close. And don’t forget to fold the tail and the feet outwards, so it looks right. After that, you make the separate 3D beak, and then the separate 2D wings, which are then just glued on the body like that, and you have yourself cute little borbs ;)

I am a huge bird/parrot fan, so these have a special place in my office/work room, and I hope there are bird lovers out there that think they are cute as well and that will assemble them, so I get to see some birbs all around the internet soon ;)

Bird flock (Simple Version) papercraft

Since my “Super simple papercrafts” were so popular, I decided to make another round of simple papercrafts and I decided to make a bird-themed group craft. Why? Since I already made cat and dog simple version papercrafts, I also have to make birds, since they are my favorite animals out of them all, and everybody should adore these fluffballs like me, so here you go :)

The papercraft is called »Bird flock«, since it consists of 8 different bird/parrot pets that are the most popular types to have and love at home. The papercraft is unfolded to 16 cm and has 10 pages to print. Saying that, it means that the 2 cockatiels are 16 cm tall (including their crest), the 2 lovebirds about 10 cm, the 2 budgies 9 cm and the 2 finches about 8 cm. All of them are in pairs with the typical colors and feather-patterns they are mostly seen and are, as the title suggest, really SUPER SIMPLE DESIGNED and therefore SUPER EASY TO MAKE.

They are basically designed as an open box, you have 2 sides that you glue together with the “stripe” in the middle, leaving a hole at the bottom where you fold back the tails and feet. They have a separate 3D beak, that you put together and glue on the face, 2D wings, that you glue on the backs, and there you go. A super simple cute bird design that is really fast and fun to make :)

To remind people again what these “Simple version” papercrafts are, here is the explanation again:

As the name suggests, it is a project of a few really simple papercrafts I am making from time to time. Since I saw that many people are somewhat intimidated of my papercrafts and I do like to make more intricate designs and details in papercrafts, people tend to get scared of the work and difficulty. In order to show that it’s not the case and that I take an effort to make papercrafts available really for any kind of papercrafter, be it beginner, advanced or pro, I decided to address the issue and show that anybody can make papercrafts and especially designed some fun crafts that REALLY ANYBODY CAN MAKE, super simple and really fast. But most of all, fun!

These papercrafts are simple in design, have fewer pieces to cut out and assemble, they have no really small parts, are overall unfolded a bit bigger, they have more detached and “boxier” (simpler) pieces that you just glue on, and when assembled still look super sweet and awesome :)

Another one for the built papercraft gallery! Since its online cosplay time (at least in my country there are some events), I decided to make myself my Kitsune mask papercraft, so here it is in all its glory.

The build is actually nothing special, if you ever made a mask prop before. I started with the inner ear parts and then separately made the eyes first, since these parts are »bulged« into the facemask and are maybe somewhat harder to make because of the inner edges. When I got those, I made the rest of the ears, connected them together, and build it stripe by stripe, connecting the eyes and then everything else, till at the end you just close it with the 3 gray outer edges.

Since already said in the template description, you have 2 options with this: 1. is a wall mount, where you can close the inner side as well, and the other being leaving out the inner side and only building it till the gray edges and then cutting off the flaps so you got yourself a cosplay mask prep. And the later is exactly what I did with mine, as you can see in the pictures where I made one of the inner parts of the mask where it isn’t closed. (Which is actually easier to make than actually closing it at the end, that can take up considerably more time and effort, so be careful what point you choose to close it, if you decide to close the back side – I suggest you make the front part of the mask first, and then the inner parts and closing it at the tip of the chin, which is the easiest way to go).

This way you can use it as a mask, you only have to add wire/thread, make holes in the eyes (and mouth so it won’t be too hot under it) and spray it with some strong clear spray so the mask holds. I also suggest to reinforce the inner side of the mask with some extra layers of crafting glue and toilet paper to make it super strong and leave it to try for the night. I will also add some bells on the sides so to give it more character, but I didn’t add any of those parts in the pictures, since I wanted you to see how the actually papercraft looks with no modifications yet.

Of course, this version can also be hanged from the wall like a wall mount as well, as you can see, since I had to pose it as that as well. It is sturdy enough if you build it just with the gray edges, since it holds its form, but for the wall mount I do suggest you make it with the back side as well, since then you can properly hang it with the crafted backside on every holster or nail. If you don’t and want to just make the front side and hang it from the wall, you can make a hole in the backside to hang it from or you can also tape or thread through some wire or rope and hang it like that.

The papercraft, btw. is unfolded to about 36 cm tall, from chin till ear tips, since I made it with measurements for my head, because I wanted a wide mask that fits comfortable and has enough room in it. Of course, if that is too big for you, you can also request a scale change when you buy it, as you can do with all of my papercrafts, and just tell me what size you would like it to be unfolded to and I’ll change it for you and send it in the size you want.

Yusei Fudo (Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's) papercraft commission

Time to share another papercraft commission, so you can see some variety in what I can do with a craft. This one is the main character of the spin-off anime of Yu-Gi-Oh, »Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's« called »Yusei Fudo«.

As with every papercraft I make, the 3D model, the posing, the texture and the unfold are all made by me. Took me about 5 days to finish this, since the texture maps are quite detailed.

The papercraft consists of quite some separate parts, the 3D craft of Fudo, the 3D stand, his 3D duel disk, his 2D 2-sided cape that you got to build on him, 2 simple 3D boxes for his cards, quite a few 2D details (like the belt, the buttons, etc.) and a LOT of 2D playing cards for the duel disk deck and for his deck in his hands, so it looks original.
The papercraft was unfolded to 35 cm, since the Fudo papercraft should be 30 cm tall, and the pose is from an original PVC figurine (that costs 120 dollars or something like that), so waaaaaay more eco-friendly and friendly for your purse to make it as a papercraft, believe me XD And it’s the way the commissioner wanted. AND, if I may say so myself, looks better and more original than the plastic made by the tons in China. All we need now is to wait and see how it will look like build :)

Here is my built version of Komasan I made for the “Super simple papercraft” project, meaning that it is easy to assemble and fast as well.

Komasan is about 22 cm tall, so it’s a nice height to glue it together and display anywhere in your room.

Since I make all of my papercrafts the same way, I also made this from top to bottom. So, the first thing I made was the ears. These are actually separate and 2-sided, so you make them first and then start assembling the head. After you got half of the head done, I suggest to glue the ears on then, because you got a nice and big hole at the bottom of the head to help yourself to really firmly attach/glue them on like that. And after they sit on the right position, you make the rest of the head. After the head comes the neck part, and then I decided to make the arms first.

After you have both bent arms, glue them one by one on the upper torso part piece by piece and continue till you reach the bottom. Close it with the feet, since they are open at the bottom, which allows you to really firmly glue the flaps on like they are supposed to be.

All you have to do now is glue the remaining separate parts on. I made the 3D backpack next, making sure to close it at the edges, because it’s simpler that way. And once it is built, simply glue it with the edges on the back of Komasan. It has the same shape as the back, so it should fit on perfectly. Then you have the 2D 2-sided flame eyebrows, how green bow, the 2D eyes, the 2D tail and his 2D purse, which you can glue on in any position you would like, and he is done.

Since he has the green backpack on his back, this allows him to actually stand in balance, so if built correctly, you can see from the pictures that he stands on his 2 feet without any help or weights.

Here is my built version of Jibanyan, the 2. JIbanyan I made for the “Super simple papercraft” project, meaning that it is easy to assemble and fast as well.

Jibanyan is about 22 cm tall, so it’s a nice height to glue it together and display anywhere in your room.

Since I make all of my papercrafts the same way, I also made this from top to bottom. So the first thing I made was the ears. These are actually separate and 2-sided, so you make them first and then start assembling the head. After you got half of the head done, I suggest to glue the ears on then, because you got a nice and big hole at the bottom of the head to help yourself to really firmly attach/glue them on like that. And after they sit on the right position, you make the rest of the head. After the head comes the neck part, and then I decided to make the arms first.

After you have both arms, glue them one by one on the upper torso part piece by piece and continue till you reach the bottom. Last 3 pieces of the bottom and with the feet still to build, I made the tail, which I also suggest you attach before you close the craft, since it’s easier to glue and tape it on.

Since the tail is 2-sided, use my wire trick and glue wire inside both parts of the tail, so it can stand firmly, and with the end part sticking out of the wire, glue that with an incision on the backside of the body and tape it on the inside. That way the tail will stand and you can actually move it.

After you got the tail, it can be a bit fiddly to move around with, so just turn it ousidedown and glue the remaning end parts and the legs on like that. And since the legs also have holes in them, it’s easy to close since you have an open part that can help you to really firmly glue the flaps on like they are suppose to be. All you have to do now is glue the remaining part of his bell on the neck, and his eyes, and it’s done.

Since you have the tail at the back, it is also used as a kind of 3. leg, so it should stand with the help of the tail, which is at a low position, so it touches the ground where the feet are. If you do not wish to use the tail, you can tuck the legs with the holes on a stand or anywhere you want, or you put some weights in them that lets it stand, but the basic idea for the cat to stand is with the help of the tail really.
