Wanted to show another one of my built papercrafts, this time it's Tohru from the papercraft I made from "Fruits Basket". Since the new season is going to start this year soon, I though you would like to see her made in all her glory XD just to hype the anime a bit, I guess, since it's so cute.
The papercraft itself is probably about 30 cm tall. I did the 3D stand and Tohru of the papercraft, since I won't be having time to make the other 3 remaining zodiacs in the near future, because of work-related time issues XD So I hope you'll be happy just to see Tohru as is.
Anyway, the 3D model has a 2-sided uniform, so of course, with these kinds of papercraft it is super easy to part the build into 2 parts, the upper and the lower part, so you can join and glue them together at the end, making it super comfortable to make. So I decided to make the hands first, since I hate to make fingers XD but you can't help it if you have a human papercraft, oh well. After the hands, I made the head, with the hair and the 2D decoration, such as ribbons, etc, and put it together from the head downwards, joining the already made hands with the arms, and down to the belly. At the end I glued her 2D collar on, and you have the upper part.
Then I made the bottom part, making my way from the shoes upwards the legs and to the hips. Nothing here to say really, you just join it piece by piece till you get to the hips, maybe adding that I put the skirt on the bottom part of the legs first, before joining it with the other part, since it will be joined in the belly part, not the hip part. And since it's open on 1 side again, you can take your time, fill the legs with weights if you want etc. (I do have to admit that I filled her legs just in case, with sand, like I always do, and one leg cnicked a bit on 1 side as I did that, since I placed her wrong, so just ignore that. Before I filled the feet they were standing good and it should have had no problems standing glued together, but I went and filled it anyway and jacked it up, serves me right- do not fix things that work! That's an advice only for papercrafts, because mostly they turn up even shittier than what you wanted to fix in the first place :P). And when you have the leg part as well, you just put glue on the remaining flaps on the skirt and hips and glue them to the upper part of her uniform, and there ya go. Nice and easy, build it 2 parts, with no problems for how to glue it together, since you always have a big hole to help you glue the parts together.
For those who are interested in the template you can find infos of it here:
Again I am sorry I can't make the Zodiacs with it as well, but I fear that these 2 weeks I have more time left since I start a new job in March, will not be nearly enough of preparation for future posts and crafts I want to show you then, when I won't have time to make them as much anymore... so bare with me here, hopefully I get the time to make some more built crafts in the near future then...
In any case, I do hope you like Tohru here and that it will inspire you to make some of your own papercrafts ;)
Happy crafting~
