Calcifer (Simple version) FREE built papercraft

Already released the FREE version of my Calcifer papercraft you can find (and download) here:

https://www.deviantart.com/antyyy/art/Calcifer-Simple-version-FREE-papercraft-1134605704

And now you can also see how it looks assembled in the preview. I also have some tips for the assembly itself, although the PDO is included in the download files, but tips are always nice, so here we go.

**************

ASSEMBLY TIPS:

As already stated in the title, it is very easy to make. You basically have a few separate items to assemble, with 2-sided optional parts and you put them together or glue together in the end. The template consists of: a simple 2D, 2-sided Calcifer fire, a 2D, 2-sided pan, 3 2D bacon stripes and 4 3D egg-yolks with 4 2D egg-whites. If you do not wish to make the smaller, egg-yolk parts in 3D, simply just cut out a round circle from the bottom of the egg templates and glue them on the egg-whites and you are good to go.

Best way, if you wish to glue on the 2-sided parts, is to loosely cut out the parts and glue them on the backside first, and then cut them out neatly. For this, simply place the front part near a lamp and put glue on the back side of it and place it in the back, adjusting the right angle and placing it on top, since you can see the silhouette of both parts with the lamp. I always do this with every 2-sided part I do with papercrafts. Same thing can be done if it’s bright outside and you place the 2 backside and frontside on a glass window and both silhouettes can be seen that way as well. But with this method, put glue on the front part and then glue them together by adjusting the right angle and you are good to go.

The rest of the assembly is pretty much simple as pie and pretty logical, even without the PDO file. Just have fun with the super simple papercraft and try to build one yourself :)

So, what is this all about a simple version? As the name “Super simple papercrafts” suggests, it is a project of really simple papercrafts I make. Since I saw that many people are somewhat intimidated by my intricate designs and overall papercraft really, I wanted to show that it’s not the case and that I wanted to make an effort to make papercrafts available really for any kind of papercrafter, be it beginner, advanced or pro. I decided to address the issue and show that anybody can make papercrafts and therefore designed some fun crafts that REALLY ANYBODY CAN MAKE, super simple and really fast. But most of all, fun!

These papercrafts are simple in design regarding how many pieces there are, they are unfolded a bit bigger to make it simpler to assemble them, they have more detached pieces that you just make and glue on, and still look super sweet and adorable so anybody will want to make them.

You can find all of the “Simple Papercrafts” I designed in my folder:

Calcifer (Simple version) FREE papercraft

Time for another FREE papercraft for the last few weeks of the year and it’s a little treat for all of the Studio Ghibli fans (: It’s a cute and super simple papercraft of the flame demon “Calcifer” from the great Hayao Miyazaki anime movie “Howl’s moving castle”.

Basically, I am in a lot of anime groups all over the net, and that scene from the movie where it is eating an eggshell and cooking bacon and eggs in a pan is sooo iconic from the movie that it gave me an idea to make a simple yet adorable and fun papercraft like this :)

*************************

So, what is this all about? As the name “Super simple papercrafts” suggests, it is a project of really simple papercrafts I make. Since I saw that many people are somewhat intimidated by my intricate designs and overall papercraft really, I wanted to show that it’s not the case and that I wanted to make an effort to make papercrafts available really for any kind of papercrafter, be it beginner, advanced or pro. You can find all of the “Simple Papercrafts” I designed in my folder:

The papercraft itself is 4 cm tall, since it’s a flat pan with fire around it. It consists of 3 pages to print. It is a simple 3D model of a pan, the Calcifer flame around it and optional 2D bacon and 3D eggs. The Calcifer flame as well as the pan itself have also optional 2D, 2-sided parts you can use or not, it’s all visible from the 3D preview in the PDO file, so no worries.

The papercraft is now available for FREE to download on my Patreon page, same as all of my other FREE papercrafts I post there:

Howl's moving castle built papercraft

Told you at the release of this premium papercraft that I desperately need to make this beautiful man for myself, and here he is, in all his glory! “Howl” from one of the best Hayao Miyazaki movie masterpieces: “Howl’s Moving Castle”.

:bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink:

The assembly itself can be divided in 2 parts really, since the papercraft consists of a separate 3D Howl model and his separate 2D coat. I always start with the face, and make my way to the back of the head. In the back there is a small hole in the hair, so it’s easier to assemble the hair strains that way, yet is not visible in the end product. Make use of that and close the head at the hole part ;)

Next I started making the hands and arms separately and also the 2D necklace and the earrings, which you can put on last. When you got the arms, you can start making the neck and torso part. Built the whole upper white shirt on the head you did before, and once you have that, glue the arms inside the remaining holes. Most of the shoulder parts are not going to be visible when the coat is on, so it’s the easiest strategy. And when the whole upper body is glued together, you can also glue the necklace around him and the earrings with the ears.

Then you make your way further by gluing the leg parts on there, turning the craft upside-down and assembling it that way, so you have more maneuvering space to glue the parts on. And when you are about to finish closing up the shoes with the soles, you can add a few weights inside the legs, for it to be able to stand nicely (The coat is going to be quite heavy, so it’s all top-heavy and the extra weights help it stand better. As always, I suggest using smaller pebbles, since they are a perfect fit for any papercraft).

All that is left to do now is to make the separate coat. I made it by gluing the sleeves togheter first, and gluing the coat parts around those. Same with the inner sides of it, gluing them directly onto the outer coat, so it fits together perfectly. And when you have the whole coat done, you can easily slide it on the shoulders of the main Howl character and you are done.

PRO-TIP: The coat can be easily removed or added onto the Howl papercraft whenever you want, so you can choose to change its appearance once in a while as well. Versatile papercraft fashion, as I call it XD Or decide to use/not use it in the first place.

Howl's Moving Castle papercraft

This screenshots, let me tell you, do not do justice to this papercraft. I have spent so many hours on this baby, I am really proud of it. To get the face proportions right with a minimal number of polygons in the face is a real challenge, and then if you have somebody as handsome as Howl, you got to give it your best :D

Anyway, yes, my next project I am releasing, as you can probably see, is Howl from one of the best Ghibli movies of all times »Howl's moving castle«. I am a follower of quite a few groups on social media, and one of them keeps posting these damn sexy Howl pictures and screenshots all the time. So, I thought that if everybody is going crazy for this man for years after the original release and almost no figurines were made it him, that is a DAMN, DAMN SHAME. Hear me Ghibli? Go make some money or do people need to tell you how to do your work properly? XD

Anyway, since almost nothing like this exists, I decided to do a papercraft of him, in the most iconic welcoming pose, when he jumps from the balcony after meeting Sophie and running away. - And besides (as mentioned a few times before), too many girl papercrafts out there, and I always like to do things that nobody thinks of making. We need something for us girls to do as well. More male papercrafts need to be designed! Some really sexy ones for the ladies ;)

:bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink:

The papercraft itself is unfolded to 26 cm and has 6 pages to print. It consists of a 3D model of Howl, his separate jacket (that fits perfectly onto his shoulders) and the inner side of the jacket, as well as some of his iconic add-ons, such as the necklace, his green earrings and his ring.

Definitely, definitely need to make this myself, since I love the character, and the lines in the preview of the PDO make him look really weird, though the assembled template looks so cool and amazing. Everybody's got to see him in action and built in all his glory... sooo, maybeee, I got something already prepared for next week... who knows :P

:bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink: :bulletpink:

In the meantime, enjoy some Ghibli movies and make a movie night, have fun and happy crafting~

Scarecrow (Howl's Moving Castle) papercraft

My Turnip-Head Scarecrow papercraft from the amazing Miyazaki/Ghibli movie "Howl's Moving Castle".

The unfold is 26cm tall, has 3 pages to print and is super simple to make, I would say an easy 5/10.

I hope you like it and happy crafting~
