Earth-chan (Earth chibi) build papercraft

Earth-chan (Earth chibi) build papercraft

Time for another one of my designs put to the test and assembled by me. And what else could it be than one of my fav chibis I made, my take on the popular “Earth-chan”.

Earth-chan

Yes, this papercraft is FREE to download on my page, so you can scroll down for the download link or you can read this part and maybe find some tips on how to assemble her and make your life easy that way XD

The craft is about 20cm tall, so she is a comfortable height to make parts easy, even if some of them are smaller. I started, as always, with assembling her head, from top to neck part. But actually, this time I closed the head on the top part, since it’s easier this way AND the top part will not be visible at the end, because you glue the hair piece on that.

When I made the head, I also made the hair part. Now I noticed that the hair part when build separately is quite wide and since you don’t actually glue it on any flaps and only on the top of the head, it has no reference points of how to put it in the right form. So what I did is that I put the assembled hair part between 2 glasses and gently pressed then together, to make the hair piece slimmer and more head-shaped. This way, the face and the hair at the end when glued together, will look nice and slimming and add to the chibi charm of the papercraft, like it is shown in the reference pictures of the template. If you don’t let the hair squish you might not get the ideal shape of the hair to fit perfectly on the head, but you can also leave this part out if you are happy with how it looks. Depends on what you want it to look like really, so just sharing my experience with it.

Now that we have the head and hair, I made the fiddliest part of the assembly, which are the fingers and hands. She has 1 finger on each hand and a joined palm, so those might be a bit fiddly to make, but not super hard really. If you made humanoid crafts before, you’ll build it in no time. After the hands come the arms and then the whole torso part + the 2-sided skirt.

Note: At this stage you will want to glue the “collar” part of the school uniform into the neck, if you want to glue it with self-made flaps inside the neck. If not, you can glue this part at the very end of the assembly, if you are okay with it being a bit loose around the neck.

When you have the upper part of the body + skirt, and the head, you glue that together in the neck part with the flaps and make it nice and sturdy (you can additionally fill out the neck with paper rolls or reinforce it with tape, just to be on the safe side) so the rather small neck won’t reform because of the head weight. I didn’t do it myself, since I found it rather sturdy and I am always careful when assembling small parts together, but you never know ;)

All that is left now is to make the separate leg part. I did that by assembling the shoes first and building it part by part till the pants, since at the top of the pants is open and you can help yourself with the open hole like that better than you would do from top to bottom.

Now simply put glue on the flaps of the pants and adjust and glue it on the upper body and head part that you did earlier. All that is left is to glue the hair on the head (and glue the collar on the actual model to fit if you already didn’t), and there you go, chibi Earth-chan is finished.

As you can see she also has some add-on posters that you can choose from for her to hold in her hands. Mine actually worked without me having to glue in inside her hands, but you can also glue it on if you wish. Another tip to make the hands so close together is again the tip with the 2 glasses. Simply put the body part with her hands between 2 glasses and let it bend together a bit for a few hours, and the arms are as close as you want them to be, without deforming the arms in any way. Just be careful on how close you put the glasses together.

There you go, your own customizable Earth-chan that you can make with 4 different expressions for yourself. If you want to give it a go, here is the template that you can download for FREE here:

Earth-chan (Earth chibi) FREE papercraft download

I always try to make a positive impact on my surroundings and want to make a better world with my papercrafts, although it sounds far-fetched. But I really do think that I can do something, maybe not much, but I want to do my part as much as I can to help. And as a matter of fact, I wanted to start the discussion about the horrible catastrophe that is currently happening in Australia and wherenot, and about all the other shit happening to our one and only mother nature, so buckle up those who wanna read it. Or skip to the direct link below, if you want :)

Pixel Clover Pixel Clover Pixel Clover
I am seeing all this misery and natural catastrophes, man-made catastrophes, dying, endangered species, human letting animals die and torturing them, I mean this just can’t go on like this. The raging fires that only count up how many animals are now dead in Australia, all the other suffering, especially because of pollution and other toxic shit we humans have made ourselves, I just can’t read it anymore.
Of course, any sane human being doesn’t want to see other suffer, but we have to do something about it. I am sick and tired just seeing all the shitty re-posts from dying animals and plastic waste, and then comments on “prayer” bullshit that helps nobody, no matter what kind of imaginary god you have or don’t have. All the comments about how we have to recycle and how bad you are if you buy coffee without a reusable cup, I mean “turtles are dying because you choose to drink that Frappuccino with a straw, you monster!” and I say BULLSHIT.

This is a ongoing propaganda, targeting people in the last 10 years, and every year it is getting worse; and the only target of this shit it not to reduce waste and go green, NOOO my friends, it’s the tactic of FEAR.

They spread fear, they spread you being more and more unhappy with things you do and feel guilty about it, why? Because if you feel guilty about yourself and the things happening around you, you get miserable, and they can sell tons of useless shit to people who are depressed and sad. All these cyber attacks on your brain, telling you how YOU and YOU ALONE are at fault for not sorting out the banana peels from yoghurt cups, because you are such a lazy ass shit! They want to make you miserable and making you depressed is enabling them to control you 100%, either politics or consumership, it’s all the same. I mean, why did in the last 15 years politics in mayor countries switch from left to right, if this go green thing is such a thing and we should be all happy to sort our trash and make less garbage, and people SOO LOVE to hear this depressing shit? Something is not right here, I am telling you.

To make things clear, I do believe in recycling, I do believe that we should do something about it I am all in for saving as much of our precious resources we have still left, but think about it; is me sorting my trash out really going to help when we have all the billions-dollar industries/companies in the world produce plastic shit, polluting the air and throwing all the useless shit (in many cases literally shit) in the sea?
Just to name countries with almost non-existing pluming and waste-sorting, no sewage systems whatsoever: India, China, Russia, the Philippines, Indonesia, probably 90% off all the African and South American countries out there, that don’t give a shit about it OR more likely don’t have the means to give a shit about it, all these billions of waste producing human being - is my daily recycling really going to make a difference compared to the biggest countries in the world, where they have no culture of waste reduction, can barely afford to live, and have no relationship with these “modern” concepts at all? Where big industries pump millions of gallons of shit water A DAY into the sea, not to mention leaking radiation that you don’t even know about and exists, will my banana peel and yoghurt cup really make a difference?
It’s just a business people, these “green news” are just a new method into making you more and more depressed, and I think we can only tackle this with rooting out the true evil of natural catastrophes and global warming, freaking make the billion-dollar industries stop doing what they do! Until they stop abusing nature and our only given planet we can live on, nothing will change and we’ll get more depressed. Shit will not get better unless we MAKE THEM PAY!

So, I want to share my views with you, make you aware that we have to stop this thing at the source, else nothing will change. And I wanted to make this problem aware with what I do, since it’s my medium of communicating with the world. And I chose to make a papercraft that you all can make for yourself and think about what I wanted to tell; form your own opinions and really do something about it. Stop the prayed bullshit, rather donate your time or money, whatever you can, to make an impact, really do something, and stop helping spread depression and fear with these things. Down with the corporations I say!
Green Heart Icon

Finally:

Here you can find the papercraft you can download yourself, it’s a famous character that I find rather fitting for this kind of message I wanted to send out: Earth-chan :) Those of you who don’t know it, it’s a fictional personification of our planet Earth, a schoolgirl that is constantly beaten up and polluted because of us, yet despite all that she still loves her humans. She doesn’t want to give up on them, and I don’t want to give up on you or the idea of the real “go green revolution”!

So here you are, your very own Earth-chan. She is 20 cm tall and has 10 pages to print, just because she has 4 different faces you can choose from and 6 different signs she can hold in her hands. She is so damn easy to make I really feel confident that all of you can make her, and she looks damn cute as well. (The design of Earth-chan is also very loose, some draw her with pants and a Nasa T-shirt, others like a Japanese school girl and in different colors and shapes, so I chose to make my own version of her, based on the galaxy outfit you can see from one of her illustrations on the screenshot).
Please spread the word, spread the love and spread the papercraft template to everybody you know, so our Earth-chan can start the revolution our planet is so desperate in need of.
