Ranger Kate (Pokemon) built papercraft

Already posted my modernized Ranger Kate papercraft template:

https://www.deviantart.com/antyyy/art/Ranger-Kate-Pokemon-papercraft-1173156576

And now it’s time to give you some pro-tips on how assemble her the easiest way. Let’s go.

**********************************************************

ASSEMBLY TIPS:

With any of my papercrafts, you can divide the assembly into separate parts: the head with the front bangs, the 2 hair buns, the 2 arms, the upper torso, the jacket, the shorts, the styler, and the bottom with the legs and shoes.

If we start with the head, you assemble the face and neck first. Then you glue on the front hair, and lastly close it with the back hair. You can the make the 2 3D tail buns separately, and slide them with glue attached on the flaps inside the 2 holes to fit them on the head. If you build them nice and tight, they fit in perfectly and leave no gap or air.

Next, you can separately build the 2 arms with the hands, with either the 2D or 3D hands (note that I did the preview pics with the 2D version of the hands). When you got those, set them aside and start gluing together the upper torso. When you have the upper torso, set that also aside and make the jacket. When you have these parts, firstly glue the torso into the neck first, and then glue the jacket on the torso. Only when you have this done and the torso is glued together with the jacket, only then press the pre-made arms with the hands inside the jacket sleeves at the right angle. And the torso is done.

Next step, make the shorts part separately and glue it inside the belt section of the torso.

Next, legs. You do this part by assembling the legs from bottom to top and finish with the buttocks part. This means, build the shoes first, glue the leg from there upwards till you come to the butt and glue these inside the 2 holes of the shorts at the right angle, so it can stand. *Pro-tip: If you want her to stand nicely, best put some weights inside the shoes before closing it together.

All that is left is to do is to glue the 3D parts of the styler together, glue it on her hand, and it's finished.

*Note: The papercraft preview is made with 2D hands. The files for printing-out have both the 2D and 3D hand versions, so you can choose which ones to make.

Ranger Kate (Pokemon) papercraft

As most of you know, the Switch 2 got announced and one of the most exciting features and add-ons it showed was an actual screen, that lets you transform the Switch into a 3DS console again! I was super hyped about this, and since I felt so nostalgic, I had to replay a classic Pokemon Ranger game for my old trusty 3DS: Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia!

Really miss the 3DS-style double-screen + touchscreen games, so I had to replay this little cute game, and I almost never do replays on any games I played before. These classic 3DS games just have a very special place in my heart… Anyway, since I did replay it all over again, I decided to do the old characters in the game justice and make my female character into a stylized modern Pokemon ranger. So, here she is, a modern re-take of Ranger Kate and how I think she would look like in 2025 (:

**************

The papercraft is unfolded to 24 cm height and has 4 pages to print out.

The papercraft consist of a basic 3D model of Kate, with 3D pointy tails, optional 3D or 2D hands, her 2D styler, and 2D add-ons, such as the jacket, the belt with the styler holder and some accessories on the shoes.

Overall the 2 tails take a bit longer to make, since they are 3D and each of the pointy ends has to be glued separately, but a very simple human papercraft all-in-all, especially if you hate making 3D hands (like me XD) and just use the 2D version ones – life is too short to make actual 3D hands on papercrafts people, go out and frolic in the grass and fresh air a bit more ;P

Hope you like the design. As said, it is top ranger Kate, but stylized in my own modern take of her, so not a carbon-copy of the actual character in the game.
