Spirit of lost time (Dragon Quest) built papercraft

Another one of my papercrafts I decided to build, this time it's the »Spirit of lost time« from the new remake game of Dragon Quest, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.

The papercraft is about 14cm tall, so I think it’s a really nice height to build it, not too small and not too big. I started this by first making the 2 long tentacle-like arms on both sides, since those are maybe a bit fiddly to make, but because it’s such a height you can put your finger in the middle of the pieces and you can glue it together very nicely like that.

After I got the arms, I started to make it from top to bottom, which is my usual pattern to assemble, because I also place the flaps of the template in such a way so it’s easy that way. When getting to the arm parts, I attached the arms on the head and shoulder part, and built it till the beginning of the legs.

The second fiddly part are the legs, since they are a bit thinner than then arms and you have to close it there as well. Since I leave the legs for last, I build them to the toes and glue every part, one by one, on the body, till only the bottom part of the foot remains, the sole. Those are just then glued on as the last step to close the papercraft without any work at all, and there you go, papercraft finished :)

I think it’s not such a difficult papercraft than most of my other designs, since it has no really small parts to glue together, and it’s easy to close at the end. It probably took me half a day to finish it, depending on how skilled and fast you are yourself, of course.

I really loved the remake of the Dragon Quest game and still do. These cute little being have captured my attention since the beginning of the game where the protagonist first sees them and has no idea what they are. I find their smooth design and glowy-like appearance very appealing and I had to make this cutie for myself at any rate XD

Spirit of lost time (Dragon quest) papercraft

Sooo, for those of you how know or don't know, I recently bought myself a new ultra-super gaming laptop and I am currently in geek mode, trying to desperately play all the cool games I missed in the last year. And I have stumbled upon a game most of you will know for sure :)

It is the mother game of games, an old Japanese RPG, which also became the base of the more known Pokemon games and basically any other existing RPG-game to this day. How could it be else, I am talking about "Dragon quest".

And Square Enix released the latest Dragon quest game called: “Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age”. And I freaking love it! Playing this masterpiece on 60 fps, beautiful iconic games, bosses and a touching story as of any arc of the game series.

Especially touching was the game, because of some certain characters in the game which I absolutely adored. Yes, we are getting to the papercraft part now XD sorry for the excursion but the game deserves it.

Some characters which are a famous mascot of the game are called “Spirits of lost time”. They are cute little blue-ish creatures, which inhabited the world in the game since the beginning of time. And I think they are freaking ADORABLE.

Especially since the end part of the game, well the end-end part to be precise, is exactly about these little fellas and you get to know them more upfront ;)

So, I just had to make my own little spirit, since I adore them so much.

Maybe some of you will find these spirits of lost time a bit creepy, because of the dark eye and mouth/nose sockets, BUT that is why precisely I find them so intruding and lovely. It is precisely because they are not cute that they are super cute. I can’t really explain it, but just note that they are super cute XD

And since I wanted to make it, I wanted to see how many of the Dragon quest papercrafts were even made, so I saw that not even the game characters were ripped yet by any major modeling site. I mean WHY?!?!?! They are awesome and I wish they were ripped, since I don’t have time myself to do it.

Anyway, I made my own model with own textures of this little cute spirit. Sorry for the missing reference pictures, since it’s even hard to find any useful pictures of them on the net :/

Returning back to the papercraft now XD the craft is 14 cm tall and has 4 pages to print. I deliberately made it a bit more complex, because I wanted it’s cute roundness to be noticed in fully :) It’s not hard to make, the arms are a bit smaller and with more parts, but all in all I made it simple and straightforward.

Hope you like it, I am back to my games ppl XD happy crafting
