Emily (Corpse Bride) papercraft

As this year’s Spooktober final “coup de grâce”, I present you my version of Emily from Tim Burtons classic stop-motion movie “Corpse Bride”.

****************

This papercraft is unfolded to 30 cm (about 25 cm for Emily alone without the stand) and has 17 pages to print (2 of which are double-sided prints for the inner side of the hair and the thorns, to make it look really nice). It consists of a 3D model of Emily, her 3D bouquet with 2D blue roses, a 3D stand for her, a half 3D half 2D tree, and a lot of 2D add-ons.

The smaller parts would be the high heels and the roses. The roses in the bouquet and in her veil on her head are each made out of 3 2D pieces, so you glue the parts together for 1 rose flower, so they are easy to make, just more time-consuming.

Since her overall design is quite complex to make into a papercraft, the thinner bone hands and feet are made with a simpler design, so they are not as accurate as in the cartoon, but are therefore easier to make and still look nice.

The hands are 2D, since her left arm is bones only, and it is easier to assemble that way. The hair is also mostly made out of 2D stripes, so you can additionally curl-up the paper to make it nice and wavy :)

********************************

I really love each and every movie of Tim Burton, even the ones he just works alongside with or is in collaboration in, since he has such a special esthetic that is simply horridly whimsical and filled with spooky wonder.

So I wanted to give this “lesser” known cartoon some justice and really worked hard on this little cutie :D It may not look 100% as in the stop-motion movie, but that wasn’t my plan to begin with anyway, I just wanted to do it justice and make her in a way my own papercraft work shines through.

Halloween pumpkin Pikachu built papercraft

Halloween pumpkin Pikachu built papercraft

As promised, I have assembled my latest papercraft, the “Pumpkin Pikachu” just in time for Halloween ;)

[Emote] Jack-'o-Lantern Fanged Evil Smile

The 15 cm big papercraft consists of 3 separate papercraft pieces, the pumpkin, the Pikachu and the pumpkin lid aka hat, so whatever you choose to built first, you are gonna be fine. Since at the end they are only put into and onto each other (or you can glue them in place, if you like at the end).

I made the pumpkin hat first, because it is the fiddliest out of the bunch, with the smaller parts of the pumpkin stem on the top. You make your way starting with the stem, gluing each piece on and following the PDO and edge ID PDF instructions, and when you are at the end of the stem, you build the remaining 3 parts of the lid.

The really important note here is to be sure to pre-fold the lines of the pumpkin, but only those that have to be bend inwards, so the pumpkin shape flows nicely and it actually looks like the shape it should (normally I never pre-fold anything, because it takes away the smooth look of the papercraft at the end, but with this pumpkin shape it is better to do so beforehand, so you know where it folds inwards and that is gets a nice and round look). Same goes for the bigger main pumpkin, so be sure to take your time and fold neatly so the lines align at the end.

Next, I made the bigger pumpkin. It has an inner and outer shell, so you can choose to make just the outer one, or you can make both, so the inner side looks nice and yellow-ish like in the pictures of the craft I made (or you can print the pumpkin parts on a yellow paper, so it’s easier, or even glue the pumpkin pieces on a yellow paper). Make the inner part of the pumpkin first, and then glue the outer part on it, so they both have the same shape and that it aligns nice with the pre-folded lines of both. – You can also choose to cut out the face of the pumpkin, if you would like. It would also look very nice, and if you put an electric candle in it, it can glow in a nice light just as a real one ;)

And at the end you got the Pikachu papercraft. Really simple and easy parts, nothing too small to glue together, apart from the smaller toes of his feet. I started with the ears and made my way down, all to the belly, then attached the 2D 2-sided tail inside the body (gluing it on the inner side of the Pikachu back with tape), that I glued together on a flat wire, and you also got a moving and posable tail with the Pikachu as well. I suggest closing the papercraft at the bottom (or with the feet), since the feet and bottom part are not visible when it’s inside the pumpkin. – My tip for the Pikachu is to start gluing the part of the papercraft where the textures meet. So, for instance, when you are making the face, be sure to start gluing the cheeks on the cheek flaps, so the colors align and the face is nice and centered.

And there you go. You can put the Pikachu now inside the pumpkin, where he fits and holds onto the edge of it and add his little silly hat and there you have it. And you assembled yourself a pumpkin Pikachu.

The whole papercraft took me probably 10 hours, plus or minus, including the cutting out of the template. I normally assemble things very quickly, since I am used to it, so take however much time you need to make it the way you like :)

Halloween pumpkin Pikachu papercraft

I got tons of work left to do with my “Under construction” status, and I am not even on 20% at the moment, since it takes so much time to edit all the PDO files and the unfolds….

BUT it’s Spooktober my friends, and I just had to do my traditional Halloween papercraft of Pikachu, in one way or another :D And here he is.

I did think about making the official Poke Center plushies, but I didn’t really like them that much. So, I did an original take on Pikachu in his pumpkin that I find super cute :D

The whole papercraft consists of 9 pages that you can print out and is unfolded to a proximate height of 15 cm. It has a separate 3D pumpkin (with an optional inner side), a separate pumpkin “lid” or hat that fits his head (with an optional inner side) with a 2D green stem on it, and a separate 3D model of Pikachu (with a 2D 2-sided tail), that fits into the pumpkin, is holding himself onto the pumpkin edge with his hands, and can be taken out, if needed.

Candy Cornn
All in all the Pikachu papercraft is very simple to make and the only small parts are the 3 toes on each of his curved feet. The pumpkin also needs to be shaped the right way, so it looks “pumpkiny”, so that is also something to take into account when assembling it, but that’s about it.

[Emote] Jack-'o-Lantern Fanged Evil Smile
I got a lot of work left to do, but I do want to finish the assembly of this little cutie till the start of Halloween, so I definitely will post the assembled and built papercraft of him when I do so :)

Hope you are looking forward to and happy crafting~

Sinistea (Pokemon Sw/Sh) papercraft commission

Since it’s the time of the year where we are preparing for Spooktober and the best seasons of the year (well, at least for those who love Halloween as much as I do…), I am showing you one of my papercrafts of a very cute ghost Pokemon…

As you can see from the picture, of course it’s Sinistea! It’s a cute little teacup ghost Pokemon from the new Sword & Shield Pokemon game, and a commission I have made.

The papercraft itself is about 7 cm tall, since it is a commission for an already made Polteageist papercraft and the commissioner wanted both to fit together size-wise. Since it is that small, it is really simply designed and easy to make. It consists of 4 pages to print the template. The craft has a 3D body with a 3D clip on the left side and a chip hole on the right side, where the 2D 2-sided arm needs to be glued on. The spillage on the left chip side is 2D and is just attached on it like that and has an optional double-sided part. Also, the bottom of the cup is left open, since it’s easiest to make it that way. It comes with both colors as you can see, normal and shiny.

Hopefully the commissioner will be able to assemble the papercraft soon, since I have been promised pictures of it when it gets finished, so I can’t wait for those so I can show it to all of you as well :)

***This is a paid commissioned papercraft. Commissioned crafts cannot be re-sold, with some exceptions. If you are interested in buying the template or have any other questions, please message me in private on DeviantArt or on my Facebook page.

If you are interested in a paid commission, or have any questions regarding my commissions and the general process, you can read about those here:

I hope you like, hope to update it with pictures soon and it and happy crafting~

 UPDATE:

The most awesome commissioner (Val070) shared pictures with me and I think they did an awesome job :) They said that they are fairly new to papercrafts and that it was quite tricky for a beginner to make the edge of the teacup since it kept warping and all, but with a few tips of mine and a bit of patience, I think it came out really neatly done and I am very happy to have gotten these shared with me :) You can check out how the teacup looks with normal textures, build by the commissioner, here:
