Princess Serenity (Sailor Moon) built papercraft

I said that it's one of the most beautiful crafts I have made to date, so of course I also had to assemble her to prove the point. This is Princess Serenity in the style of the new Crystal anime they are making the remakes of. – Can’t wait for the new movies to come out in 2023 XD They better not keep me waiting!

:bulletyellow: :bulletyellow: :bulletyellow:

The papercraft basically consists of a separate Serenity model and the column she sits on (that is optional, she can basically sit on any shelf or box really). So, I started by making the face and neck part first, and then the back of the head and left 1 piece out to close it at the end. Next, you assemble both hair tails together and glue them on the head – really fiddly precise work, so take your time with it. And close the head with the last remaining strip. *Pro-tip: When I glued the tails on the head, I also took a few wires and jammed them in, to extra reinforced the parts where the tail sticks on the head to make it sturdy and not falling off, just in case.

The hair is really the most complex part of the assembly, so I definitely recommend this papercraft for more advanced papercraft buyers, since the tails are so delicate.

Next, I assembled both arms with the puffy sleeves separately, so I could glue them on next. Then, make the part with the shoulders and glue the arms on there. – Again, for more experienced builders, because you have to work with the upside-down head and the tails hanging from the head (else you can’t glue the tails on correctly if you do the tails last, so these HAVE to go on first).

Once you have the upper torso, you can make your way in making the separate golden rings on her bussom and then glue those on. From there, you need to glue all the remaining parts of the dress and the fiddliest parts are done.

All that remains is to make the back-bow and the inner legs separately. Once each of them is done, simply glue them on the right place, the legs with the remaining flaps and put them at the right angle inside the dress, and the bow at the backside (which can also be a bit fiddly, since the bow is so big. Make sure it is bent the right way, as shown in the PDO, so you have space to glue in between the 2 hair tails and glue it on with a lot of glue and patience).

Princess Serenity is now done and you can also assemble the column so she can sit on it (no glue needed, but you can glue her on there if you want) or place her anywhere dangling from a shelf.

Very fiddly work, but soo, sooo rewarding, because she looks absolutely stunning and 100% figurin-esk – that’s why I fell in love with papercrafts in the first place. A real treat for any real Sailor Moon papercraft-enthusiasts out there.

The papercraft is premium and I already released the unfold template preview here:

Princess Serenity (Sailor Moon) papercraft

As some of the older watchers and supporters may know, I did make a whole Sailor Moon line of papercrafts with their transformation poses, but since they were so outdated and not up to my high design standard anymore, I did remove them from my sortiment.

HOWEVER, I am still a huge fan of Sailor Moon, and it was THE anime that got me started watching anime and falling in love with animation altogether (the old version btw. not the new Crystal remakes XD I am old, I know)! So, I had to at least re-make some of these beauties in the style of the new anime as well, so when I had time I made the one and only Princess Serenity.

:bulletyellow: :bulletyellow: :bulletyellow: :bulletyellow: :bulletyellow: :bulletyellow: :bulletyellow: :bulletyellow: :bulletyellow: :bulletyellow:

The papercraft itself is referenced off a cheap selling PVC figure (and by cheap I mean Made-In-China cheap plastic, the figure itself is waaay overprices as all of these anyway), but papercrafts are by faaar a much better resource to make figures if you ask me:

1. Eco-friendly,

2. Artistic and imaginative,

3. Encourages hand-eye coordination + 3D perception,

4. 100% customizable,

5. A LOT cheaper,

6. at least 200% better-looking,

and I could go on and on XD Basically, I wanted to make an elegant pose for Serenity and found this pose that was really dignified and decided to pose her that way and make her sit on the column since it looks so gorgeous.

:bulletyellow: :bulletyellow: :bulletyellow:

Anyway, the papercraft itself is unfolded to 25 cm and has 11 pages to print. It has a separate 3D model of Princess Serenity (with feet and the whole underbody under the dress) with her 3D hair, 2 pages of double-sided printing for the hair so it looks nice from all sides, some accessories to go along such as the 3D bow, the ribbons, her earrings etc., and the separate 3D column for her to sit on (which is optional, since she could also sit on any elevated flat surface or off a shelf edge really).

One of my best designs by far, definitely in the new top 5 of my favorite and best-looking papercrafts I have ever made. So, I will have to assemble her when I have time as well, so you can see the elegant pose and that really frail light textures from the Crystal anime that I love as well.

I do hope you enjoy till then, and that we get that damn new Sailor Moon season soon!! Been waiting forever XD

Enjoy and happy crafting~
