Mega Dragonite (Pokemon) papercraft

As some of you maybe saw, we had a “Pokemon Presents” yesterday, and people were mostly excited about the new Mega Pokemon reveal they did! And I really love the design, because I LOVE anything to do with wings, flying, birds, feathers, you name it. So how could I NOT make this new Mega evolution form into a papercraft XD O present you: Mega Dragonite (as my papercraft version of it)! – made from 0 in less than 24 hours after the official release of the design XD

The papercraft is unfolded to 24 cm and has 6 pages to print. It consists of a 3D modeled Mega Dragonite, with simple 3D base wings on his head, and additional flat, 2D 2-sided wings on the head and its back. It also has a simple stand for the body, the tip of the tail touches the ground, so it is placed on the stand and looks like it flies. I would actually suggest to put it on strings/wires and hang it from a ceiling to make it look original, you probably need 2 strings, 1 for the head and 1 for the tail to hold it in place.

*Note that I did the 3D model based off the screenshots and official artwork of the release, so the model, especially the wings since I can’t see them from all angles, are going to be different in the released game. So, the design varies from the actual official Pokemon design.

And now come some assembly tips to make her yourself as well.

ASSEMBLY TIPS:

As with all of my papercrafts, start at the top, end at the bottom.

You can assemble the mask first and then you can make the head/hoodie around it, from back to front. When you make the whole head part, only then glue inside the 3 parts of the hair at the right spots.

Next, make the 2 sleeves separately. Set those aside and build the first torso part. Once you have that, you can glue inside the head you made and the 2 sleeves. Then you can glue on the remaining torso part with the whole red skirt part.

Next you make the legs part separately. Start by making the 2 heels separately and then the 2 legs with the bottom part. Once you have them, glue the bottom with the flaps inside the dress at the right angle, so she tilts to the left with her butt. And ONLY THEN, glue the heels on the flaps of the legs at the right angle, so you can adjust the pose and make her stand easier.

If you want to put inside weights, do so by putting small pebbles inside the heels and/or legs, before you close them with the heels. The papercraft will stand better with weights inside, but it can also stand without them.

All that is left to do is to is to add the 2 2D belts on her and the little cutie is done.

ASSEMBLY TIPS:

As with all of my papercrafts, you start from top and build to bottom.

Assemble the 2 ears separately and then start making the top of the head, attach the 2 ears on and make the whole head to the edge of the neck.

Now since it has a jacket on, I suggest you first make the hoodie separate and glue that on the head. Then make the whole jacket part separately (including the sleeves with the hands) and then you glue the body shirt on the head at the front neck part. When you have the body shirt on, you glue on the pre-made jacket on the edge of the head. Next, put glue on the flaps of the body shirt parts where it touches the inner sleeves, and glue that on and then put glue on the remaining flaps of the inner edge where the body shirt and the jacket meet, and glue that on to get the body – with this method, although it sounds complicated, is less complicated and you can have that few millimeters margin of error to join them together as well, without the holes being noticeable if the edges don’t fit 100%.

Next, you glue on the leg/bottom part of the papercraft. Before doing anything, make the 2D 2-sided tail by putting in some wire inside it so it can hold and move at the same time. When you have the tail, make an incision line on the bottom part of the legs, so you can slide that wire inside the body and glue the tail from the inside of the body with strong tape.

When you got this, all you have to do is the 2 feet separately, and when you are done, slide them inside the 2 holes in the bottom with glue and attach them like that.

All that is left are the 2D parts of the jacket, the simple earphones that you can glue on by putting a bit of glue on the edge of each earphone and make the 3D optional stand and the MC Pikachu is done.

Shy Gal (Super Mario) papercraft

Shy Gal is a cute little OC character from the Super Mario universe, basically a “rule 63” made-up female version of the Shy Guy mascot. And since I liked the gif and the drawn versions they made out of her all over the internet, I decided to partake in this and made my own papercraft figure version (:

The papercraft is unfolded to 20 cm and has 3 pages to print.

The base is a 3D model, with hollow sleeves, so there are no actual hands to make (yes!!! I hate assembling 3D hands so much XD) and the hair parts are 2D parts as well. The fiddly parts would be the high-heels she has and the hoodie, since you need to make the mask first and build the hoodie around it, since it has double-flaps to put together.

It does stand on both feet, but since the heels are very steep and because of the bent pose, I do suggest filling out the feet to make her stand better.

Tri lifesize (Zelda) papercraft commission

A fast simple papercraft commission I made of »Tri« from the new Legends of Zelda game Echoes of Wisdom.

It is a life-size papercraft of Tri, with a basic 3D body and his 3 3D triangle swife tails on his head. It is unfolded to 33 cm, so a life-size unfold to make into a cosplay prop for the commissioner (:

Hopefully we’ll get to see the finished cosplay figure as well when they make it and I’ll get to share the pictures of it as well!

Xatu (Pokemon) redesign papercraft

Fakemon are a really nice inspirational source for many papercraft ideas, including this one. This is a redesigned Pokemon of Xatu, but in a more Ainu-esque design, as it turned out. I really like the color combination and it’s a simple OC craft to make.

The papercraft itself is unfolded to 13 cm and has 3 pages to print. It consists of a basic 3D Xatu model, and his 2D add-on wings, tail, bandana and dress. The hardest part would be the legs, since they have some small parts to glue together, but all in all a pretty simple, basic craft. As with all of my crafts, the PDO is always included, so you can see the 3D model and how to assemble it best all in the file itself.

I have made this papercraft design at least a year ago when it came out, and completely forgot to post it XD ups, it happens when you have so much stuff to do and post.

Anyway, this is the “POKÉMON JUMPIN' HALLOWEEN PARTY” MC Pika :) I have no idea if it’s a hip-hoper, raver, MC, DJ, hipster, whatever it is, it has a super cute fashion style and I love the hoodie and headphones so much I wish I had them XD so jealous of your rizz, Pikachu!

The papercraft is unfolded to 17 cm and has 7 pages to print. It consists of a 3d models of MC Pikachu with a simple 2D 2-sided hood, simple 3D headphones, a 2D 2-sided tail and a simple 3D stand with 2D lightning bolts coming out of it, so it has a cool, lying down pose as in the promotion of the event.

The smaller parts would be the hands and feet, else it’s a really simple one to make. You can also leave out the 3D stand completely and just lie it down on another stand you make out of foam, cotton or just tie him up on some twine in your room and enjoy the cuteness.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin papercraft

This season we get the “Tensui no Sakuna-hime” or as it’s translated “Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin” game made into an anime! A really popular title in Japan and I really liked the game as well, played it quite some time. Therefore I decided to make the main Sakuna-hime character into a papercraft and here she is.

The papercraft is unfolded to 22 cm and has 5 pages to print. You have a basic 3D model of Sakuna and separate add-ons: her 4 3D tail tails in the back that are simply made and glued on the head, the 2 3D tails in the front also just made and glued on the face, 2D ears, her 3D hoe she leans on for support, 3D geta with 2D straps and a 2D sash. She also has 3D hands and optional 2D hands for easier assembly.

Very basic humanoid papercraft to assemble with some thinner parts such as the hair tails. She should be able to stand on their feet with no problem (since she also has the hoe to lean on), but you can always fill out the legs in the end. There is always the PDO included with the purchase, so you can help yourself for the assembly with that anytime, so no worries.

I just saw that cute Layton doll and I had to make it into a papercraft. So, as you can see, I took the base simple 3D models, edited them and made my own textures, since the old ones were really blurry and small.

The “Professor Layton” series are a cute puzzle series for Nintendo consoles and I have fallen in love with the games ever since it came out. They even have an anime adaptation, and the movie is simply beautiful! Go check that out as well! - And, Nintendo promised a new series to come out next year, which was a huge surprise (but a good one), since we all thought they have finished the games with the new “Layton's Mystery Journey” with the main protagonist being his daughter and they didn’t make any new ones since. So, super hyped and I want to share the hype when it comes out and you got the adorable dolls to make in the meantime.

Korok Hollo (Legend of Zelda) papercraft

Today I am showing one of my papercraft commissions again, “Korok Hollo” from the game “Legend of Zelda”, but the old version and not the one from Breath of the wild, because the commissioner liked the autumn version of him better and it fits into nature at this season more as well :D 

The papercraft itself is 13 cm tall and has 4 pages to print. It consists of the Korok Hollo with a 3D body, his 2D mask with a 3D nose on it (2-sided), his 2D 2-sided sticks as well as his 3D triforce stand, since he has really small feet and I wanted to provide a backup just in case it would not stand when filled at the bottom.

And since it’s a commission, the awesome commissioner Yokuvika provided some outdoor pictures of the papercraft so you can see how it looks like as well :)
