Hootie (Pokemon /Fakemon) papercraft

Found a cute non-existent Pokemon / Fakemon concept online somebody did, so I decided to make my own papercraft out if. The Fakemon is called Hootie and is, as the pictures shows, a simple yet super cute owl Pokemon. My version is my own, since I decided to make some smaller changes I liked more for my style.

The papercraft itself is unfolded to 15 cm and has 4 pages to print out. Really simple to make, with 2D, 2-sided brows, and 3D yet half-open wings, so they are really easily made. The only smaller parts of this would be the feet, since they are in 3D, else it should be pretty straightforward to make, and you also have the blank PDO included (as with all of my papercrafts), so it’s all there.

*The preview picture (as most of them) as well as the Fakemon concept itself is not mine, the 3D model of the papercraft and the papercraft unfold itself, however, is 100% mine.

Hope you like the Fakemon, really wanted to just have fun with this one and make something new from the Pokemon universe and just enjoy myself. These simple Fakemon are so relaxing and easy to make, I just love them XD

Do enjoy and happy crafting~

Celestial Owl (OC) built papercraft

Celestial Owl (OC) built papercraft

Another built papercraft to share with all of you, and this time it is my originally created character called “Celestial Owl”. It was a character I made up while being inspired by a cute plushie I saw in a gallery. You can check out the template and the info there:

The papercraft is about 20 cm tall and actually easier to make than I thought, since I made it upside-down from what I normally do, that means I started bottom to top. It is more logical with this papercraft, since the only fiddly parts are his legs, so you really want those to be neatly done and sealed at the end, so I started to make those 2 first and made my way up till the head, where I closed it at the end. Now, since it has a separate 3D body, the main body is actually done pretty fast. If you like, you can fill in some weights at the end to make it stand more firmly, but it can stand on its own 2 feet, because it is backed up by the cape at the end as well, so it stands no matter what.

After the body was done, I made the separate cape. As you can see it’s pretty simple since it’s open, but I did leave out the inner 2-sided side for the coat, since I didn’t have enough ink to print it at the time. So, with your coat you can make the starry inner part of the coat so it looks fancier as it does with mine :)

After the coat, I made the 2-sided wings, since they need to be glued on the cape. They are actually very sturdy if you make them 2-sided like they are, so you don’t need any extra support for them to stand, just bend them a bit and they hold their form. BUT, you can make them with my wire technique, and add wire in the middle, and glue the other part of the wire by making 2 small incisions in the cape and glue it on the other side. That way, you get moving, flapping wings. I obviously didn’t do it because I didn’t have the inner side of the cape printed out, so the wire would be visible from the inside, but I think it’s a very nice idea if you want moving parts to pose.

In any case, once you make the wings, glue those on the normal way, as I did, or with wire and put the coat with all the extras (such as the button on the cape, and the long veil) on the 3D body. All you need to do now is firmly attach the coat on it with the neck cape pieces and glue it on, so it is enclosed on the body, and the papercraft is finished.

Since it has the coat on firmly with the neck piece, it stands now on 3 points and it will not fall over no matter what. And the 2-sided veil also makes up for some extra balance and looks astoundingly noble and aristocratic XD love the veil thing really, it makes the whole character come to life.

I hope you liked it and do take a look at those cute details in the pictures and in the template.

Happy crafting~

Celestial Owl (original character) papercraft

Showing another one of my projects, that is maybe from the concept a bit different. Why? Because this one was actually made as an idea I took from another Deviation.

This is a plush that I found while browsing online, and I immediately fell on love with it. But, since I can’t make plushies and I can’t even hold a sowing needle in my fingers, I though of transforming this celestial owl idea into my own style, and this is what I came up with.

This is my original character “Celestial Owl” I made up myself (with the starting idea of the plush) and turned into a papercraft. The craft is 20 cm tall and has 7 pages to print. It is a rather simple craft that I tried to make, a lot of 2-sided flat pieces you just put on as decoration, but with very effective textures that makes it look very elegant. It is essentially a 3D owl, with a 2-sided cape, a hoodie with a 2D crown, his 2D 2-sided wings that you just glue on the cape (for extra effect you add in wide between the 2 wings and you make it articulate and stand that way, so trust me, got to use wire with the wings), and a long 2D 2-sided cape at the back that adds that extra touch of elegance.

The textures are actually very dear to me, because the intricate design I used with the gold colors are so called “mantras” I have been probably drawing op paper since I was 12. It’s my take on Japanese mantra designs and old kanji that I love so much, and that I made into my style for everything I do in real life really. So, I decided to also put the design into my digital 3D work of arts as well, to give it my special kind of touch.

I think you can get the basic idea of how it looks and how easy it is to make by the screenshots of the papercraft itself, and I hope you like the small designs I put into it. There are always some things that inspire me to do something, and this time it was an owl plush that I think it super adorable :) and that made me design a new character I wanted to make out of it.

Feedback, comments and notes are always appreciated, so write bellow what you think of it, what you think of my work in general, so I know what I need to change or what things maybe you want to see changed or see more of. Hope you like it and happy crafting
