Atelier Ryza (Reisalin Stout) papercraft

Finally, after weeks of waiting for this to be uploaded so you can all see it in its most awesome glory, I am finally able to show you my most prized papercraft possession yet, “Reisalin "Ryza" Stout” from the awesome game series Atelier, more precisely “Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout” AND the continuation of the game, which will be released this December “Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy”!!!

(If you haven’t tried out the game yet, TRY IT NOW, it’s really something else and I love how special it is and how each of the characters is lovable in their own way! And the skins and the specials and the quests and the game mechanics etc. etc. etc.)

I have found out about papercraft about +10 years ago and started by assembling existing ones at first. After a while of getting used to building them, I decided to start designing and modeling them myself, and the rest is history. In my more than 5 years of professionally dealing and handling papercrafts, I have made some papercrafts that are most precious to me and on which I have spent days upon days of work to finalize them. My top 3 of them are:

    1.       https://www.deviantart.com/antyyy/art/Super-Sailor-Moon-built-papercraft-770504062

    2.       https://www.deviantart.com/antyyy/art/Hatsune-Miku-Snow-Princess-2019-papercraft-830987244

    3.       https://www.deviantart.com/antyyy/art/Cardcaptor-Sakura-Clear-card-papercraft-756221918

But this has now all changed, thanks to this work of art I made, Atelier Ryza. She is THE BEST papercraft I have made to date and countless hours of work have been spent on making it look the way it does. All worth it.

The TEXTURES ARE ALL 100% MINE, HAND PAINTED AND MADE TO FIT THE UV-MAPS I again made myself. 100% painted and made to resemble the exact Ryza character in the game. Probably 99% accurate. And a whooping 7 different UV-maps to make the 7 different textures, so I could fit in all the details. Painted in hours of work in my Gimp program and on my PC drawing pad. And let me tell you there is nothing easy to fit such lush textures on a very low-polyed and downsizes papercraft surface like this. Model and pose and staff, of course, also 100% mine.

The textures are undeniable the most crisp I have ever conjured up myself and a step up the ladder of my drawing/modeling/papercrafting skills I have refined time and time again during all my business times. So, I am a step further in my confidence on how to make papercrafts look amazing and I am very proud of my work.

The papercraft itself is unfolded to 40 cm tall (12 pages of templates), since I wanted her really to stand out and be the amazing eyecatcher in the room it deserves to be when assembled.

It is made out of a 3D model of Ryza, that stands on her 2 feet (did a physics test, she stands 100%), with some extra separate add ons you make and glue on like that, such as:

    - Her 3D round flasks on the left side of her waist,
Her 2 2D belts with her petri dishes and small details on it,
Her 3D flash on her right leg with a 2D holster,
  - Her 3D bag on her left leg with a 2D belt to hold it in place,
A 2D necklace around her neck,

- Her 2D 2-sided tie on her hat,

And of course, the 3D staff with some 2D 2-sided features to make its assembly really simple.

Everything else, the hat, the hair, her detailed sleeves hanging down her arms, etc., are attached to the main 3D body and are assembled when making Ryza. All in all she has many small add-ons, which I think make the assembly super fun (since it’s like a kind of a dress-up game in some way to me XD ), and the main body is as simple as can be to make, apart from the smaller 3D fingers on her hands – again she is unfolded to 40 cm height with the staff, so the “small” parts are super manageable and for a humanoid papercraft very easy to make, since I made sure of that when putting the papercraft together.

In the future I will make sure to post more of these detailed papercrafts, as far as my time allows it, so you can enjoy the new quality of papercrafts I will make. It’s so rewarding at the end ;_; I love her SO MUCH. I can’t wait to assemble this baby when I got time!!!

Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist) papercraft

Sharing another commission today, so here it is. Since I already did the Alphonse in his armor life-size papercraft..:

https://www.deviantart.com/antyyy/art/Alphonse-Armor-Fullmetal-Alchemist-papercraft-813686244

...I had to do the other half, his brother Edward Elric as well.

This is yet another life-size papercraft for the commissioner of Edward, which is amazingly unfolded to 165 cm. And the shock of it all, YES, he is actually 165 cm tall in the series. WTF! I mean, all the time they nag him and tell him he is small and gets called “chibiko” all the time, YET, he is the same height as ME! What the hell is this! XD 165cm is not small people! Just to tell you now out of the bat…. =_= ちび子て言うな!!!!! :D

The papercraft itself is basically what you see. A whole joined papercraft body, and with a 1-sided cape, since the commissioner wanted it like that because it’s too much trouble to make 2-sided, so he will just paint it over when it’s done. And I do agree when we are talking about life-size crafts, since they are a LOT of work to do anyway.

He has all the parts and the pose from the reference figurine you see, since the commissioner wanted to make it the same pose, since it’s a nice dynamic one and the craft will be able to stand that way and won’t tip over.

I hope you like it, I am sure the commissioner will share the pictures once it is done at the end of the year, so stay tuned for those amazing pictures and happy crafting till then~

Copperajah (Pokemon Sw/Sh) papercraft commission

Sharing another overdue papercraft commission from the new Pokemon Sword & Shield collection. This time it's Copperajah in all its glory.

Copperajah
The commissioner wanted a special dynamic pose, so that's what he/she got! I think it's a very natural pose for the Pokemon, swinging its trunk around and ready to use it ;)

The whole thing is about 44 cm tall, so it's quite big and so it has no really small fiddly parts to work with. It has 11 pages to print, and of course it also comes with the shiny version of it, as you can also see in the screenshots.

All in all, I think it's a very natural and quite fun pose and the Pokemon should look nice when built. If I get the pictures of it, I will definitely share them on here.

Till then happy crafting~

Celestial Owl (original character) papercraft

Showing another one of my projects, that is maybe from the concept a bit different. Why? Because this one was actually made as an idea I took from another Deviation.

This is a plush that I found while browsing online, and I immediately fell on love with it. But, since I can’t make plushies and I can’t even hold a sowing needle in my fingers, I though of transforming this celestial owl idea into my own style, and this is what I came up with.

This is my original character “Celestial Owl” I made up myself (with the starting idea of the plush) and turned into a papercraft. The craft is 20 cm tall and has 7 pages to print. It is a rather simple craft that I tried to make, a lot of 2-sided flat pieces you just put on as decoration, but with very effective textures that makes it look very elegant. It is essentially a 3D owl, with a 2-sided cape, a hoodie with a 2D crown, his 2D 2-sided wings that you just glue on the cape (for extra effect you add in wide between the 2 wings and you make it articulate and stand that way, so trust me, got to use wire with the wings), and a long 2D 2-sided cape at the back that adds that extra touch of elegance.

The textures are actually very dear to me, because the intricate design I used with the gold colors are so called “mantras” I have been probably drawing op paper since I was 12. It’s my take on Japanese mantra designs and old kanji that I love so much, and that I made into my style for everything I do in real life really. So, I decided to also put the design into my digital 3D work of arts as well, to give it my special kind of touch.

I think you can get the basic idea of how it looks and how easy it is to make by the screenshots of the papercraft itself, and I hope you like the small designs I put into it. There are always some things that inspire me to do something, and this time it was an owl plush that I think it super adorable :) and that made me design a new character I wanted to make out of it.

Shuichi Kagaya (Gleipnir) built papercraft

Decided to assemble another one of my papercraft collection, so this time I am sowing you "Shuichi" from the anime "Gleipnir" in monster form.

The whole dog mascot is about 30 cm tall, so it’s actually pretty easy to put together. There are actually no small pieces on this one, the only fiddly parts are the 2D stitches you can glue on like that or you can leave them out, other than that it’s very relaxing and easy-breezy to make.

I started with the head and made my way down to the feet. First, I made the ears and put together the remaining parts of the head, then I made the separate arms and attached those on the head and made my way down. At the end, when you also made the tail part and glued in on first, you have 2 legs remaining to be made, you make one normally and then close the whole thing at the bottom paw of one leg, and there you go.

All that is left is to put on the 2D straps and star, you can also add the simple 3D gun holster (which you can glue on the leg or just jam in between the leg and arm and it holds perfectly as you can see from the pictures above), and the Furry Gleipnir mascot is finished XD

For more info on the unfold and some more details, you can look it up here:

Hope you like it and happy crafting~

Emilia (Re Zero) papercraft

Since I missed the opportunity to make a Emilia papercraft in the last season, I definitely wanted to make the template for her papercraft now. So, here you go, my own version of »Emilia«, the main female protagonist from the anime »Re:Zero«. A noble half-elf of a rich family of nobles and one candidate for the throne, but for more info you better watch the anime ;)

The papercraft itself is unfolded to 26 cm, which is a good size for a humanoid papercraft as far as my experience goes and has 7 pages to print as you can see from the screenshot. The whole look of her is quite simple, since she is mostly white with some highlights of different shades of purple, so the texturing didn’t take as long as it mostly does.

Gem Emerald
She is an average difficulty to put together (if you put together some humanoid papercraft then you know the tricky parts are always the fingers and hands etc.). Other than that, because she has 3 underskirts and a coat above that, it can actually be build in 2 parts, upper part being the head, hair, coat (which is 2-sided) and her first 2 frilly skirts, and the second part being her lags and the last underskirt of her. Then you put the craft together at the middle where the 3 skirts meet, since that flaps and line will not be visible at the end, so it’s an ideal point to join, and there you go. The hair is also open at one part, so it’s relatively easy to put together the head part as well (since I designed the hear and hair with all my humanoid papercrafts that way, so it’s simple to put together). Else, she has a lot of smaller 2D add-ons so those are just glued on to make it as easy as it can be. Also, since she has frills on her sleeves, that is going to take the most time assembling probably, since you have to bend the frills to put them on, so they actually look like frills. But I did put together such a piece already, for instance with my “Snow Miku Princess papercraft” or “Ultimate Madoka papercraft”, and it’s not as hard as it looks at first, so no panic there, it’s all do-able :)

Gem Emerald Gem Emerald Gem Emerald
I hope you like the little cutie, since a lot of people were writing me about making this Re:Zero papercraft already, that’s why I decided to finally make it. And because I know it’s a popular thing and I happen to have 1 credit left for this month, you can also view her in a 3D preview, so you can see her in all the beauty and cuteness as well. Here is the 3D preview of the papercraft template on how it looks assembled:

Earth-chan (Earth chibi) build papercraft

Earth-chan (Earth chibi) build papercraft

Time for another one of my designs put to the test and assembled by me. And what else could it be than one of my fav chibis I made, my take on the popular “Earth-chan”.

Earth-chan

Yes, this papercraft is FREE to download on my page, so you can scroll down for the download link or you can read this part and maybe find some tips on how to assemble her and make your life easy that way XD

The craft is about 20cm tall, so she is a comfortable height to make parts easy, even if some of them are smaller. I started, as always, with assembling her head, from top to neck part. But actually, this time I closed the head on the top part, since it’s easier this way AND the top part will not be visible at the end, because you glue the hair piece on that.

When I made the head, I also made the hair part. Now I noticed that the hair part when build separately is quite wide and since you don’t actually glue it on any flaps and only on the top of the head, it has no reference points of how to put it in the right form. So what I did is that I put the assembled hair part between 2 glasses and gently pressed then together, to make the hair piece slimmer and more head-shaped. This way, the face and the hair at the end when glued together, will look nice and slimming and add to the chibi charm of the papercraft, like it is shown in the reference pictures of the template. If you don’t let the hair squish you might not get the ideal shape of the hair to fit perfectly on the head, but you can also leave this part out if you are happy with how it looks. Depends on what you want it to look like really, so just sharing my experience with it.

Now that we have the head and hair, I made the fiddliest part of the assembly, which are the fingers and hands. She has 1 finger on each hand and a joined palm, so those might be a bit fiddly to make, but not super hard really. If you made humanoid crafts before, you’ll build it in no time. After the hands come the arms and then the whole torso part + the 2-sided skirt.

Note: At this stage you will want to glue the “collar” part of the school uniform into the neck, if you want to glue it with self-made flaps inside the neck. If not, you can glue this part at the very end of the assembly, if you are okay with it being a bit loose around the neck.

When you have the upper part of the body + skirt, and the head, you glue that together in the neck part with the flaps and make it nice and sturdy (you can additionally fill out the neck with paper rolls or reinforce it with tape, just to be on the safe side) so the rather small neck won’t reform because of the head weight. I didn’t do it myself, since I found it rather sturdy and I am always careful when assembling small parts together, but you never know ;)

All that is left now is to make the separate leg part. I did that by assembling the shoes first and building it part by part till the pants, since at the top of the pants is open and you can help yourself with the open hole like that better than you would do from top to bottom.

Now simply put glue on the flaps of the pants and adjust and glue it on the upper body and head part that you did earlier. All that is left is to glue the hair on the head (and glue the collar on the actual model to fit if you already didn’t), and there you go, chibi Earth-chan is finished.

As you can see she also has some add-on posters that you can choose from for her to hold in her hands. Mine actually worked without me having to glue in inside her hands, but you can also glue it on if you wish. Another tip to make the hands so close together is again the tip with the 2 glasses. Simply put the body part with her hands between 2 glasses and let it bend together a bit for a few hours, and the arms are as close as you want them to be, without deforming the arms in any way. Just be careful on how close you put the glasses together.

There you go, your own customizable Earth-chan that you can make with 4 different expressions for yourself. If you want to give it a go, here is the template that you can download for FREE here:
