Shiranui (Okami) built papercraft

This cute little Shiranui chibi papercraft has already been posted as a papercraft template here:

And I did promise to assemble it as well, since I love Okami and the figure looks super cool, so here are the posts. And you also get some building tips along the way for people wanting to make their own when they purchase it :)

*As with any of my papercraft templates, the blank PDO is always included in these files, so you help yourself with the 3D preview in Pepakura to assemble it, but I like to post a bit of experience I have with building papercrafts to maybe make things easier for less experienced papercrafters and share ideas on how to make it simpler :)

ASSEMBLY TIPS:

The papercraft can be divided into smaller separate parts that you pre-make and then glue together, to make it simpler. So what I suggest is that you divide it into: The head, the front legs, the back legs, the tail, and the body with the backside disk and the fire.

I started this by making the orange-green 2D fire for the back. Best and simplest way is to just cut out 1 side of the fire and cut it alongside the inner parts only (not cutting out the flame details). Then, cut together the fire and the bottom part and then get the other side of the fire and first glue the flames on the other side. Let it try and ONLY THEN cut out the flame details, so it super simple and completely covered 1 on 1. And when the flames are cut, cut out the rest and glue the bottom side on and close.

Then, you can make the simple cylinder-shaped disk and glue it together, and glue that on the flames with the small white stand on it.

Next move to make the 2 ears on his head and then the snout, all separate. Once you have the ears, start building the head around those (top to bottom), add the snout on there and at the neck, also glue on those 2 fur parts on the head.

Put aside and glue together the 2 front legs, the 2 back legs and the tail, all separate. With the legs, be sure to firstly glue on 1 side of the 2-sided fur parts hanging out and only when you close the legs completely, add the second backside of the fur on, so the flaps are not visible.

With the tail, it can be quite fiddly, since the stripes are smaller and thinner, so take your time and use tweezers or a stick (I use a chopstick myself) to access the glued parts and put them together like that. That way, the glue is on neatly and you don’t need to work with your own fingers and destroy the whole thing.

When you have all these parts, take the head again and start gluing on the 2 chest parts of the body and then attach the front legs first. Then make your way to the back and attach the tail FIRST, before you glue on the back legs, because it will be easier and you can additionally reinforce it to make it hold just in case. When the tail is on, glue on the back legs and lastly, close the back legs with the flat bottom part.

All that is left to do is to glue on the fire disk on his back, and you are done.
