Marcille (Dungeon Meshi) papercraft

This series. This series, people, seriously. This anime has surprised me so much, I freaking LOVE IT. When it came out I was like: “Seriously, another stupid cooking anime, so boring.” But I actually gave it a try about a month ago, and I instantly fell in love with it. It’s such an awesome anime, funny, action-packed, the characters are so likable, I can’t wait to see more of the story as well! Do give it a try!!!

Of course, I am talking about “Dungeon Meshi”, translated into “Delicious in Dungeon”. And the main heroine of the anime is an elf called “Marcille Donato” who absolutely hates the idea of eating dungeon monsters, yet always find the food they make super delicious XD I love her and her facial expressions. That’s why I decided to make a papercraft diorama, showcasing this wonderful piece of artwork as a diorama with tons of add-ons to make it a real showcase in any of your papercraft collections.

The papercraft is unfolded to 23 cm and has a whooping 13 pages to print with all the add-ons and the diorama. It consists of 10, freaking 10 UV-maps I hand-drawn into this, to make each and every detail on this shine on its own. A very detailed craft, I really put a lot of hours into this piece.

The papercraft consists of a 3D papercraft of Marcille in a sitting pose, so even if you decided to just assemble her without anything, you can sit her on any edge, shelf or box in your room and display her as is. The template also includes her 3D staff, 3D and optional 2D hands for easier assembly, a 3D crate, 6 x 3D cinder blocks for the cooking pot, her 3D rolled-up sleeping mat, a 3D dungeon-style stand, a simple 3D pot with a 3D bowl for her hands and a 2D spoon and a 2D fireplace. The pot itself has a lot of 2D details for the soup (I made copying a colored manga illustration), that is a reference for the first dish they make in the anime, so it all looks very detailed, but all the pieces are pretty simple to make and just need to be cut out.

I hope you like her and seriously, give the anime a chance and you’ll fall in love with it as I did. Surely one of the top ones in the last few years!

Fruity bird toy built papercraft

Already showed you the template with all the color-combinations themselves (which you can see here):

So now all that is left to do is to show you how this cutie looks and works as well :)

ASSEMBLY TIPS:

The papercraft build for this can be divided into 4 separate parts: the bird itself, the lid, the inner side and the bottom with the handle.

The assembly it pretty straightforward from the PDO included already, but I do want to mention 2 tips.

1.       You have 2 middle parts with holes in the template and those 2 middle parts need to be glued together (with both holes cut out, so the bird can pop out of it).

2.       Also, for the bird to better pop out of the fruit, I definitely suggest you first assemble the bottom fruit part with the handle and BEFORE you glue on the handle on there, make sure to test out the ideal length of the handle and how much needs to stick out to make the movement smoother. It needs to be sticking out almost 3/5 out of the hole for it to be ideal to work. So, try out the length and after you find the sweet spot, glue on the handle on the “glue here” tab on the bottom part.

Really simple and super cute as well, don’t you think? Nothing really too fancy or complicated, since I wanted to design it to be easily assembled.

And as a special treat, since it IS a moving papercraft toy, I made a simple gif animation on how it looks when it pops out:
