Akazukin ChaCha papercraft

Waaaaay back in the days when I first started watching anime, Crunchyroll was still an actual usable platform that was free to watch and without ads. Ahhh, good ol’ days. Anyway, I watched stuff on the site and thanks to Crunchy I got into this super cute and funny anime called “Akazukin ChaCha” or “Red riding hood ChaCha” and it’s a really stupid and lovably story about a little girl and her sensei and just all-around everyday chaos in magic land for them. It has everything, from slapstick comedy, to fighting, mahou shoujo transformation, friendship, adventure, isekai, romance, all of it and more. I love the series, because it’s super funny, and years later the same mangaka also had another work released into anime, called “Mahoujin guru guru”. Damn, these hit me right in my funny bone and I think they are super silly XD

Anyhow, since I was looking at some old anime I watched on my watch list, I did remember this old anime, and I wanted to make a cute little ChaCha papercraft of her to remember the series. And here it is.

The papercraft is unfolded to 18 cm and has 4 pages to print (+2 being optional backside prints for the inner side of the hood and the dress). The template consists of a simple 3D model of ChaCha, with her 3D transformation brooch (that you can make a simple 2D version by just cutting out the front and backside) and optional 3D or 2D hands.  

The fiddlier parts would be the hair tails, since they are smaller, and the optional 3D hands.

Lure ball (Pokemon) papercraft

Lure ball (Pokemon) papercraft

Decided to do a whole bunch of different life-size box Poke ball designs and I made a LOT, since I had so much fun making them XD so from now on, you’ll get to probably see at least 1-2 Poke ball papercrafts posted on my site for a long, long time.

They range from the normal in-game designs, to exclusive Pokemon designs I made up as OC’s. They are all relative in height, about 11 cm (not including the stand and the ears and accessories, if they have any), so they all fit together as a bunch. I made them as life-size Pokemon-themed boxes, since they can open and close like a box with a lid and they all have optional double-sided print pages for a colored inner side, so the box looks neater when built. The 2 buttons in the front are separate 3D parts glued on the front. They also all have optional stands, so you can place them inside and they don’t roll away.

*Note that all of them are more challenging to make, are more detailed and have smaller or thinner parts, so I do not recommend any of them to beginners. I think these are best suited for intermediate and experienced papercrafters, but who am I to say what you can and cannot do (;

This is the Lure ball design papercraft box. It is unfolded to 16 cm (11 cm of the actual Poke ball height) and has 4 pages to print out (3 of them being double-sided).

The preview picture shows the unfolded Poke ball template that stands apart a bit, so it is easier to assemble with the inner part shown, but you can also see the closed preview and how it looks, just so you know how it looks closed.

Hex Maniac (Pokemon) papercraft

Hex Maniac (Pokemon) papercraft

On Pokemon Day a few days back, we finally got to see a real game-play trailer and some new info on the upcoming “Pokémon Legends: Z-A” game coming out at the end of this year. They have shown some new gimmicks, the returning starters, etc.

HOWEVER, what people got most excited about was, when they released a map with some illustrations of the city and lo and behold, who was on the illustrations that got the most attention out of the Pokemon fans? No other than the newly stylized “Hex Maniac” Pokemon trainer XD

I love her as well, not gonna, lie, so I had to do my best and turn this little few-inch big illustration that we got from her into a papercraft. And this is how I imagine her to look like (:

The papercraft is unfolded to a height of 22 cm and has 5 pages to print out. She is made as a basic 3D model, with simple separate 2D front and back hair, optional 3D or 2D hands, some simple 2D flat add-ons and 2 layers of the dress.

One leg is slightly tilted to the back, since I wanted to make the same pose she is in the reference, but she has very big shoes, so standing isn’t a problem. You can add additional weights inside the legs when you assemble her, but she can stand on her own with ease.
