The papercraft is about 23 cm tall, so it’s really relaxing and easy to make. I designed is really simple, since I wanted clean surfaces for the skeleton texture to show, so all parts are easy to make, the only “fiddly” part can be the feet since they have the smallest parts to assemble. I would give this papercraft a 5/10. It also took me about 5-6 hours to make, including cutting out pieces.

I started by making the 2 ears and hands separately and after I had those, I built the top part of the head to glue on the ears. After that you just follow down to the torso, gluing each stripe one by one on the body, and when you get to the torso, glue the arms on as well. I continued to assemble it, till I got to the last 3 pieces that you close at the bottom and the feet, since there is where you glue in the 2D tail first.

As always, as already told several times with my tips and tricks, I glued a wire inside the 2 parts of the tail, since it can be moved and it stands well that way. I glued the wire inside, and made sure that 1/3 of the wire stands out, so that part in glued on the inner side of the body. I did this by making a small incision on the back part of the body and put the tail through it, and after gluing the wire with tape on the inside. That way you got a sturdy, movable tail that is really cool looking and functional. It sounds harder than it is to make, you can see from the pictures how it goes in so you can try it for yourself :)

After the tail is on, all you have to do it close the craft on the bottom end with the feet (which is how I always do my papercraft, from top to bottom, since I find it easier and you can hide any imperfections at the bottom, where you can’t see it. I glued the 2 remaining parts and glued on the first foot, and closed it with the last 3. stripe of the bottom. Then I made the second foot in the hole, and close it at the bottom of the foots sole. And there you go, a complete and assembled skeleton Pikachu papercraft.

I hope you like it, if you got any questions or feedback, those are always welcome and you can write them in the comments on contact me per note.

Happy crafting everybody~

Chinese Zombie chibi papercraft

Last day till Halloween and since it's Spooktober and my favorite season, I have to share this one as well, also the last Halloween themed papercraft for this year. Actually, I really wanted to make a Chinese Zombie/Ghost/Vampire design for ages now and never had the time, so this year I had to make it no matter what.

Those of you maybe more familiar with Eastern mythology know this special Chinese design of a zombie (with the mantra tag on the hat, the special clothes, the special hat etc…). Sometimes they are also equally represented as a ghost or vampire, since probably Chinese lore doesn’t really separate them as much as the West do? In any case, I wanted to make a zombish yet cutish style papercraft that represents what I love to do, so here it is.

The chibi papercraft zombie is about 18 cm tall and has 4 pages to print. It is actually simple to make, since it consists of a 3D zombie body and a separate 3D hat that you just put on his head. It may be that the neck part is a bit hard to make, since it is a chibi and it has a large head, so I do suggest to additionally reinforce the neck from the inside. Apart from that, it has a 2D 2-sided braid that you just glue on the head as hair, and you can build the legs separately and glue them on last, so it’s even easier to make like that.

Hope you are enjoying Halloween season as much as I am and happy crafting~

Skeleton Pikachu papercraft

Another Halloween special papercraft to share :)

BUT, before I start explaining the papercraft, I really have to say I was hesitant to post and even make this commission. This is an open commission I was asked to make, and the idea was actually from the page of the papercrafter called »Danyuu«. I really don't re-make work of others and copy things like this, but it was a commission I was asked to do from a good friend and I also have to admit I myself really like the idea of the skeleton Pikachu Halloween special, as well, so in the end I did decide to make it. So, if you have the time, look at the original craft of Danyuu on his page, he is giving it away as a dynamic of some sort, and the idea really came from his design. I did make it my own, I never copy anything 100%, since I always do things in my style, but the basic overall look is the same.

Continuing with the papercraft, it was unfolded to 23 cm, and has 6 pages to print. It is actually really simple to make, no small parts, just fiddly legs to make, since they have bumpy fingers, but that's about it. Tried to keep it simple and clean, so the texture can really get through, just as the commissioner wanted.

As you can see, the papercraft is made out of an attached 3D modeled body, and a separate 2D 2-sided tail. As with some of my Pikachu papercrafts, the idea of the tail is the same as with most of them. Since it's 2D, glue one end part of the wire in the inner parts of both sides of the tail and attach the other end of the wire on the inner side of his behind. That way the tail stands 100% and you get a simple yet effective way to move the tail around as you wish in any direction 360 ° :)
