PLA Poke ball (Pokemon) built papercraft

Already posted my Origin PLA Pokemon Poke ball box papercraft template:

And now it’s time to give you some tips on how to assemble one yourself.

**********************************************************

ASSEMBLY TIPS:

Since it is meant to be a simple box, the papercraft is separated in the upper and under part of the Poke ball, as well as the stand.

Both parts of the Poke ball are best made from top to bottom. Meaning you start by making the outer red shell of the ball first, and only then gluing on the middle edge part with the round buttons.

The buttons in the middle as well as the top are 3D, so best way for those is that you do those separately and glue them inside by wedging them inside the hole at the top or gluing them on the surface in the middle button.

The stand is also a simple form, that is best done by starting in the middle part, gluing on the edges, and lasty closing it at the bottom with the flat part.

And there you go. If you build it correctly, you have yourself a Poke ball box that can be opened and closed and used as a simple storage for smaller candy or something else that is lighter.

If you want to make it really sturdy however *pro-tip: You can enforce the inner part of both halves with simple wood glue and some tissues or toilet paper. - Mix 2/3 wood glue with 1/3 of water and use a brush to apply in on the inner surface of the ball (making sure not to make it too wet or too thick, so it doesn’t start to drip on the outer side of the box). Once the surface is still wet, apply ripped parts of the tissue on the glue, brush it over with the brush and glue, and do this on the whole inner surface. Once it is dry, it becomes as hard as plastic and you can use it as any normal storage box.

Lunlun (VTuber) built papercraft

Already released the template of this virtual cutie:

https://www.deviantart.com/antyyy/art/Lunlun-VTuber-papercraft-1097126281

and now you can make the virtual an actual DIY self-made template figurine by following these assembly steps as well (:

********************

Best way to assemble is it to first make the 2 ears first. Both ears are made with a few vertical stripes and a 2D piece with the bumps for the ears. So, the easiest way is to take the front piece of the ear that is glued on the 2D piece and make your way to the back, where you close the ear with the back piece of the 2D bumps.

Set that aside and start making the face and the top part of the head, glue on the ears at the right spots and make the whole head till the neck part.

Next, make the 2 arms and 2 legs separately and start making the top torso and glue that inside the neck and then add the arms. Glue together the torso till the 2 legs come in, and glue those inside the body in the end (the papercraft doesn’t need extra weight to hold it upwards and make it stand, but be sure to glue the 2D tail in the back so it touches the ground along with the 2 legs, so the tail can support the body in the back and make it stand).

Next, we have a lot of 2D 2-sided parts you make and glue on the body and lastly, the 3D bell. The bell is quite tricky and small to make, since I wanted it to look exactly like the vTuber itself has, so take time doing that one, or if it’s too complicated to make, you can also leave it out and just make the bow around its neck to make it look cute.

Glue those 2D parts on the flat surface of the 3D craft and make sure, as said, the tail touches the ground in the back, so the figure has support to stand on in the end. And that’s about it.

Akane (Ranma 1/2) built papercraft

Already posted my Akane papercraft template:

https://www.deviantart.com/antyyy/art/Akane-Ranma-1-2-papercraft-1147429769

And now it’s time to give you some pro-tips on how to make life simpler when building her yourself. Let’s go.

**********************************************************

ASSEMBLY TIPS:

With any of my papercrafts, you can divide the assembly into separate parts: the head with the hair, the 2 arms, the upper torso with the sleeves and dress, the schoolbag, and the legs with the shoes.

If we start with the head, you assemble the face and neck first. Then you glue on the front hair, and lastly close it with the back hair. After this, you can glue on the 2D ears. (*Note that I did the build preview without the additional hair in the back and the lid, to make the build faster. The template includes parts to close the head neatly.)

Next, you can separately build the 2 arms, with either the 2D or 3D hands (*Note that I did the preview pics with the 2D version of the hands). When you got those, set them aside and start gluing together the 2 sleeves first separately, then the upper torso. When you have the upper torso, glue the sleeves inside those and make the rest of the torso and dress. Only when you have this done and the torso glued together with the head, only then press the pre-made hands inside to glue them on the right angle inside the sleeves. And the torso is done.

And lastly, the legs. You do this part by assembling the legs from bottom to top and finish with the buttocks part. This means, build the shoes first, glue the leg from there upwards till you come to the butt. If you want her to stand nicely, best put some weights inside the legs before gluing it together.

All that is left is to do is to glue these parts now together. Glue the legs’ part inside the dress, making sure to glue them at the right angle, so the figure can stand comfortably. Glue together the simple schoolbag and put or glue in in her hands… And it's finished.

*Note: The papercraft preview is made with 2D hands. The files for printing-out have both the 2D and 3D hand versions, so you can choose which ones to make.
