Totoro papercraft

In the anime community there are a few gems that shape the community throughout the years, but probably none that reach up the ranks of Hayao Miyazaki’s “Tonari no Totoro (aka My neighbor Totoro)”. The anime is legendary even amongst studio Ghibli fans and while reviewing some figurines I have myself of Totoro, I decided to do a tribute diorama papercraft to show my love for the giant, furry cat-god creature.

The papercraft is unfolded to 22 cm and has 9 pages to print. It consists of a 3D Totoro, a 3D white mini Totoro, the optional 3D stand and a lot of 2D add-ons, such as the leaves on their heads, the grass and the bus stop sign. For the grass on the stand you also have an optional 2-sided page you can print it on, so the diorama stand looks nice and green from both sides.

The small Totoro is a bit fiddlier to make, so are the hands/paws and the ears of the big Totoro, but overall, a nice and easy papercraft to make.

I hope you love Totoro as much as I do and you give the papercraft a try as well. Go watch or re-watch some of the old anime movies you love, sometimes it can be so nice and relaxing, definitely recommend any of the Ghibli movies for that :)

Enjoy and happy crafting~
