Marcille (Dungeon Meshi) built papercraft

Posted my Marcille papercraft template preview already that you can view here:

So now you can see her assembly and how cute she looks in real as well.

*As with any of my papercraft templates, the blank PDO is always included in these files, so you help yourself with the 3D preview in Pepakura to assemble it, but I like to post a bit of experience I have with building papercrafts to maybe make things easier for less experienced papercrafters and share ideas on how to make it simpler :)

ASSEMBLY TIPS:

As with all of these humanoid papercrafts, it can be divided into smaller separate parts you can built and then put together, to make it easier to assemble. So, you can divide the Marcille craft into: the head with the neck and hair, the torso with the sleeves and dress, the hands and the legs.

As with all of my papercrafts, I always start with the head. Build the face and the head around + the neck and then glue the front hair bangs on the face part. After, build the the 2 3D hair tails first and glue those on the head, and then the whole back part of the hair . All that is left to do is to glue the mics (2D braids, ears, hair decoration on).

When you finish the whole head, it’s time to start the torso. The neck has a cape around as well, so start with that and build it half-way, so don’t close them at the back, so you are able to slide them on the neck at the end.
Put the parts aside, and assemble the first upper part of the torso to about half of the breasts. Then glue on the upper sleeves on there (which you also build separately), and then slide in the folds of the heads neck part, so you are able to glue it in nicely and additionally reinforce it with rolled-up leftover paper from the cut-out, to make it sturdier and really holding it together. Once the neck is glued on the torso part, slide the cape on there, glue the back parts together and build the remaining parts of the torso and then the remaining dress bottom part on there.

Now you can start assembling the 2 hands separately. Once done, you can simply glue the hands inside the sleeves. Since the parts have flaps and can just be glued on like that, you can make it really easy to assemble that way AND you can adjust the angle of how the arms are, so you really get it right. And when the glue dries really good on there, you can glue on the optional spoon and bowl.

Now, the leg part. Start at the bottom and make your way up. And once you have the legs, you can glue them by sliding them inside the dress part and make her sit nicely.

Since she has a sitting pose, she won’t fall over no matter what. You can put her on the crate you make or simply sit her on a shelf or box to display her in your room.

As for the optional 3D various items, they are easy enough to make, just be sure to *pro-tip: first build the whole pot and bowl and only AFTER these, glue the soup part inside, to make it easy to assemble. For the staff, you can put inside a round popsicle stick and cut it at the right length to additionally reinforce it. And the 2D soup ingredients are just glued on however you like it to look.

Marcille (Dungeon Meshi) papercraft

This series. This series, people, seriously. This anime has surprised me so much, I freaking LOVE IT. When it came out I was like: “Seriously, another stupid cooking anime, so boring.” But I actually gave it a try about a month ago, and I instantly fell in love with it. It’s such an awesome anime, funny, action-packed, the characters are so likable, I can’t wait to see more of the story as well! Do give it a try!!!

Of course, I am talking about “Dungeon Meshi”, translated into “Delicious in Dungeon”. And the main heroine of the anime is an elf called “Marcille Donato” who absolutely hates the idea of eating dungeon monsters, yet always find the food they make super delicious XD I love her and her facial expressions. That’s why I decided to make a papercraft diorama, showcasing this wonderful piece of artwork as a diorama with tons of add-ons to make it a real showcase in any of your papercraft collections.

The papercraft is unfolded to 23 cm and has a whooping 13 pages to print with all the add-ons and the diorama. It consists of 10, freaking 10 UV-maps I hand-drawn into this, to make each and every detail on this shine on its own. A very detailed craft, I really put a lot of hours into this piece.

The papercraft consists of a 3D papercraft of Marcille in a sitting pose, so even if you decided to just assemble her without anything, you can sit her on any edge, shelf or box in your room and display her as is. The template also includes her 3D staff, 3D and optional 2D hands for easier assembly, a 3D crate, 6 x 3D cinder blocks for the cooking pot, her 3D rolled-up sleeping mat, a 3D dungeon-style stand, a simple 3D pot with a 3D bowl for her hands and a 2D spoon and a 2D fireplace. The pot itself has a lot of 2D details for the soup (I made copying a colored manga illustration), that is a reference for the first dish they make in the anime, so it all looks very detailed, but all the pieces are pretty simple to make and just need to be cut out.
