Ash and Pikachu (Pokemon) built papercraft

Since the new Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl have come out over a week ago, I thought I would post another Pokemon papercraft I also got in store. This time it's my Ash & Pikachu papercraft pair that I have designed some time ago and now finally had time to assemble.

As with all of my papercraft, I start at the head. I made the face and neck part first and made the hair at the back. The hair parts are mostly made out of 4 or 5-sided pyramid shapes, so these should be the only things pre-bent in the papercraft in order for it to look good. And at the end, where you close the head at the uppermost part of the head, you can leave it open, because the cap goes on separately and the hole at the end is not visible at all. If you have problems assembling these somewhat tricky pieces, I do suggest to leave it oepn at the end, so you have maneuvering space to glue the pieces together in a more simple way. And after you made the head, you can assemble the separate hat and the 2D ears as well.

Next, move to the hands and make the fiddly fingers. After both hands are done, assemble the arms around it. When you have the whole 2 hands, move to the making of the torso. First, make the white T-shitr around the already assembled neck and head, and when you have the whole T-shirt with the sleeves, simple put glue on the flaps of both arms and glue them on the right spot, under the right angle, as is shown in the included PDO. Nice and easy without a big fuss on how the arms should be attached inside the sleeves. And after you got the whole torso attached with the arms and head, you can make the sleevless blue jacket. You can pre-assemble it halfway, making sure you leave 1 side out of the 2 open, so you can put the 1 pre-assembled side around the arm, and glue the other side on the torso, so you can put it on neatly. After that is done, you can make the separate backpack, also gluing the last strap at the back on the torso, so it fits on tight.

When this is done, you can start making the 2 shoes, and up to the legs and the whole underbody part, since this can be made separately as well, and put in smaller weights inside them when you are done, so it stands nicely (I always put in small pebbles that can fit in the small iner holes and parts of the papercraft, and have still a big enouhg weight to make it stand firmly). After the leg part is done (put in the legs the same way you did with the arms) and you got the weights in, put glue on the flaps of the pants and simply put it inside the T-shirt part of the torso you already made, adjusting the angle and position the same way you did with the arms. Nice and simple, and Ash is done.

All that is left now is to make the separate Pikachu. Simply follow the PDO instructions and build it best from ears to bottom. The only fiddly part are the smaller legs of his in the back, which you should glue on lastly to close it. But before closing, make sure to glue a small portion of the 2D 2-sided tail on the inside (by making a small incision where you want it), so the tail can be moved at the end and that it looks original. And there you go. You can choose to glue the Pikachu on Ash, since he does tend to fall off his arm if it's not in the right position, but I chose to leave it on like that, since I love my small 10cm Pikachu so much and I got it displayed at my working table, hanging from my laptop and looking at what I am doing XD -don't judge me, I love Pikachu-

All in all the Papercraft has 2 fiddly parts, which are the spiky hair parts of Ash that need to be pre-bent as shown in the instructions provided, and the smaller feet of Pikachu. Everything else is pretty straightforward if you made 1 or 2 humanoid-papercrafts. They mostly follow the same pattern. And you always have the PDO to look at the parts and the edge ID PDF that I provide with the purchase as well. Should be do-able for anybody liking Pokemon papercrafts really.

The template itself and that info can be found here:

***This is a premium papercraft that you need to purchase in order to receive the PDF and blank PDO files for assembly. – You can find all information about the PayPal purchase in the provided upper outgoing link.***
