Since these are assembled and built simple version papercrafts of my “Bird flock” project, these are really easy to do and super-fast. Each one of these birds took me less than 1 hour to make (including cutting out the pieces) and there are 8 in total, if you want to make all of the flock. Those include: 2 cockatiels at 16 cm height (including their crest), 2 lovebirds with 10 cm, 2 budgies with 9 cm and 2 finches with 8 cm of height.

Since they are super easy to do and done in no time, I also recommend these for children to build, if you want to get them interested in papercrafts. They are fast to make and fun to play with, so give it a try with your little ones if you want.

All of them are basically made the same wax, you just make the separate 3D boxy body and close it and since it has a hole on the bottom, it’s really simple to close. And don’t forget to fold the tail and the feet outwards, so it looks right. After that, you make the separate 3D beak, and then the separate 2D wings, which are then just glued on the body like that, and you have yourself cute little borbs ;)

I am a huge bird/parrot fan, so these have a special place in my office/work room, and I hope there are bird lovers out there that think they are cute as well and that will assemble them, so I get to see some birbs all around the internet soon ;)

Bird flock (Simple Version) papercraft

Since my “Super simple papercrafts” were so popular, I decided to make another round of simple papercrafts and I decided to make a bird-themed group craft. Why? Since I already made cat and dog simple version papercrafts, I also have to make birds, since they are my favorite animals out of them all, and everybody should adore these fluffballs like me, so here you go :)

The papercraft is called »Bird flock«, since it consists of 8 different bird/parrot pets that are the most popular types to have and love at home. The papercraft is unfolded to 16 cm and has 10 pages to print. Saying that, it means that the 2 cockatiels are 16 cm tall (including their crest), the 2 lovebirds about 10 cm, the 2 budgies 9 cm and the 2 finches about 8 cm. All of them are in pairs with the typical colors and feather-patterns they are mostly seen and are, as the title suggest, really SUPER SIMPLE DESIGNED and therefore SUPER EASY TO MAKE.

They are basically designed as an open box, you have 2 sides that you glue together with the “stripe” in the middle, leaving a hole at the bottom where you fold back the tails and feet. They have a separate 3D beak, that you put together and glue on the face, 2D wings, that you glue on the backs, and there you go. A super simple cute bird design that is really fast and fun to make :)

To remind people again what these “Simple version” papercrafts are, here is the explanation again:

As the name suggests, it is a project of a few really simple papercrafts I am making from time to time. Since I saw that many people are somewhat intimidated of my papercrafts and I do like to make more intricate designs and details in papercrafts, people tend to get scared of the work and difficulty. In order to show that it’s not the case and that I take an effort to make papercrafts available really for any kind of papercrafter, be it beginner, advanced or pro, I decided to address the issue and show that anybody can make papercrafts and especially designed some fun crafts that REALLY ANYBODY CAN MAKE, super simple and really fast. But most of all, fun!

These papercrafts are simple in design, have fewer pieces to cut out and assemble, they have no really small parts, are overall unfolded a bit bigger, they have more detached and “boxier” (simpler) pieces that you just glue on, and when assembled still look super sweet and awesome :)

Another one for the built papercraft gallery! Since its online cosplay time (at least in my country there are some events), I decided to make myself my Kitsune mask papercraft, so here it is in all its glory.

The build is actually nothing special, if you ever made a mask prop before. I started with the inner ear parts and then separately made the eyes first, since these parts are »bulged« into the facemask and are maybe somewhat harder to make because of the inner edges. When I got those, I made the rest of the ears, connected them together, and build it stripe by stripe, connecting the eyes and then everything else, till at the end you just close it with the 3 gray outer edges.

Since already said in the template description, you have 2 options with this: 1. is a wall mount, where you can close the inner side as well, and the other being leaving out the inner side and only building it till the gray edges and then cutting off the flaps so you got yourself a cosplay mask prep. And the later is exactly what I did with mine, as you can see in the pictures where I made one of the inner parts of the mask where it isn’t closed. (Which is actually easier to make than actually closing it at the end, that can take up considerably more time and effort, so be careful what point you choose to close it, if you decide to close the back side – I suggest you make the front part of the mask first, and then the inner parts and closing it at the tip of the chin, which is the easiest way to go).

This way you can use it as a mask, you only have to add wire/thread, make holes in the eyes (and mouth so it won’t be too hot under it) and spray it with some strong clear spray so the mask holds. I also suggest to reinforce the inner side of the mask with some extra layers of crafting glue and toilet paper to make it super strong and leave it to try for the night. I will also add some bells on the sides so to give it more character, but I didn’t add any of those parts in the pictures, since I wanted you to see how the actually papercraft looks with no modifications yet.

Of course, this version can also be hanged from the wall like a wall mount as well, as you can see, since I had to pose it as that as well. It is sturdy enough if you build it just with the gray edges, since it holds its form, but for the wall mount I do suggest you make it with the back side as well, since then you can properly hang it with the crafted backside on every holster or nail. If you don’t and want to just make the front side and hang it from the wall, you can make a hole in the backside to hang it from or you can also tape or thread through some wire or rope and hang it like that.

The papercraft, btw. is unfolded to about 36 cm tall, from chin till ear tips, since I made it with measurements for my head, because I wanted a wide mask that fits comfortable and has enough room in it. Of course, if that is too big for you, you can also request a scale change when you buy it, as you can do with all of my papercrafts, and just tell me what size you would like it to be unfolded to and I’ll change it for you and send it in the size you want.

Yusei Fudo (Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's) papercraft commission

Yusei Fudo (Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's) papercraft commission

Time to share another papercraft commission, so you can see some variety in what I can do with a craft. This one is the main character of the spin-off anime of Yu-Gi-Oh, »Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's« called »Yusei Fudo«.

As with every papercraft I make, the 3D model, the posing, the texture and the unfold are all made by me. Took me about 5 days to finish this, since the texture maps are quite detailed.

The papercraft consists of quite some separate parts, the 3D craft of Fudo, the 3D stand, his 3D duel disk, his 2D 2-sided cape that you got to build on him, 2 simple 3D boxes for his cards, quite a few 2D details (like the belt, the buttons, etc.) and a LOT of 2D playing cards for the duel disk deck and for his deck in his hands, so it looks original.
The papercraft was unfolded to 35 cm, since the Fudo papercraft should be 30 cm tall, and the pose is from an original PVC figurine (that costs 120 dollars or something like that), so waaaaaay more eco-friendly and friendly for your purse to make it as a papercraft, believe me XD And it’s the way the commissioner wanted. AND, if I may say so myself, looks better and more original than the plastic made by the tons in China. All we need now is to wait and see how it will look like build :)

Komasan: Yo-kai Watch (Simple Version) built papercraft

Here is my built version of Komasan I made for the “Super simple papercraft” project, meaning that it is easy to assemble and fast as well.

Komasan is about 22 cm tall, so it’s a nice height to glue it together and display anywhere in your room.

Since I make all of my papercrafts the same way, I also made this from top to bottom. So, the first thing I made was the ears. These are actually separate and 2-sided, so you make them first and then start assembling the head. After you got half of the head done, I suggest to glue the ears on then, because you got a nice and big hole at the bottom of the head to help yourself to really firmly attach/glue them on like that. And after they sit on the right position, you make the rest of the head. After the head comes the neck part, and then I decided to make the arms first.

After you have both bent arms, glue them one by one on the upper torso part piece by piece and continue till you reach the bottom. Close it with the feet, since they are open at the bottom, which allows you to really firmly glue the flaps on like they are supposed to be.

All you have to do now is glue the remaining separate parts on. I made the 3D backpack next, making sure to close it at the edges, because it’s simpler that way. And once it is built, simply glue it with the edges on the back of Komasan. It has the same shape as the back, so it should fit on perfectly. Then you have the 2D 2-sided flame eyebrows, how green bow, the 2D eyes, the 2D tail and his 2D purse, which you can glue on in any position you would like, and he is done.

Since he has the green backpack on his back, this allows him to actually stand in balance, so if built correctly, you can see from the pictures that he stands on his 2 feet without any help or weights.

Here is my built version of Jibanyan, the 2. JIbanyan I made for the “Super simple papercraft” project, meaning that it is easy to assemble and fast as well.

Jibanyan is about 22 cm tall, so it’s a nice height to glue it together and display anywhere in your room.

Since I make all of my papercrafts the same way, I also made this from top to bottom. So the first thing I made was the ears. These are actually separate and 2-sided, so you make them first and then start assembling the head. After you got half of the head done, I suggest to glue the ears on then, because you got a nice and big hole at the bottom of the head to help yourself to really firmly attach/glue them on like that. And after they sit on the right position, you make the rest of the head. After the head comes the neck part, and then I decided to make the arms first.

After you have both arms, glue them one by one on the upper torso part piece by piece and continue till you reach the bottom. Last 3 pieces of the bottom and with the feet still to build, I made the tail, which I also suggest you attach before you close the craft, since it’s easier to glue and tape it on.

Since the tail is 2-sided, use my wire trick and glue wire inside both parts of the tail, so it can stand firmly, and with the end part sticking out of the wire, glue that with an incision on the backside of the body and tape it on the inside. That way the tail will stand and you can actually move it.

After you got the tail, it can be a bit fiddly to move around with, so just turn it ousidedown and glue the remaning end parts and the legs on like that. And since the legs also have holes in them, it’s easy to close since you have an open part that can help you to really firmly glue the flaps on like they are suppose to be. All you have to do now is glue the remaining part of his bell on the neck, and his eyes, and it’s done.

Since you have the tail at the back, it is also used as a kind of 3. leg, so it should stand with the help of the tail, which is at a low position, so it touches the ground where the feet are. If you do not wish to use the tail, you can tuck the legs with the holes on a stand or anywhere you want, or you put some weights in them that lets it stand, but the basic idea for the cat to stand is with the help of the tail really.

She-Ra (Princess of Power) built papercraft

 She-Ra (Princess of Power) built papercraft

Another day, another built papercraft to show :) This one is the new She-Ra design from the cartoon »She-Ra - Princess of Power«. Loved the cartoon, loved the plot-twist ending, really nice. It’s a rare sight to see in cartoons, that’s why I appreciate it even more. Really well done and inclusive :) I don’t want to mention too much, since some of you didn’t see it yet, but definitely go watch it, it’s perfect for binge-watching and it’s a great character development.

In any case, moving on to the papercraft, it’s about 35 cm tall, since she is holding the sword in her hands. The She-Ra craft itself is about 25 cm. She is very hard to do, because the fingers are made out of 4 parts and it is killing you making those =_= (but at the same time still necessary because of the pose and because she needs to hold that sword in her hands without glue). So, definitely not for beginners, since it’s about an 8/10. Recommended for expert builders here, if you love a challenge, you are gonna love this.

I started by making the sword really, since it’s the coolest feature. It has some smaller parts, so mind those. Else I recommend you make it like me, and build the grip first and close it at the tip of the blade, that’s the easiest way to make it.

After I had the sword, I made the face with the neck and then made my way back to the hair. She has a small 3D wave of hair at the front, so that’s a bit tricky, else the hair at the back can be closed or you can leave it open, and it’s simple to build once you are at the back, just glue layer by layer. I left the hair open at the back, and you don’t even see it, so I recommend doing the same with any build of yours. After the head is all done, you can already glue on the 2D extras, which are her tiara pieces and leave it for later.

Next came the hands. They are really small and I printed it out too small as well, so those were hell to make. Had to glue them together with a needle to get it neatly closed. So, if you are thinking of purchasing the template, do keep in mind that you can say to re-scale the papercraft to a bigger size, that way it’s simple to make and you won’t have a hard time making the small fiddly fingers as I did XD After fingers I did the hands and glued the shoulder pads on the flaps of the arm, so I got those ready for the next step.

I then build one half of the torso, and not the while one, so you still have maneuvering space gluing parts on it, so be sure to keep that in mind when assembling crafts. You make ½ of the torso and then glue on the head with the hair and the 2 arms you made. At this point, glue the remaining half of the torso on and glue the skirt on last. – Here on you can also glue on the 2D 2-sided cape on her at the back, since the hair is far enough from the body to comfortably glue the cape flaps on here to the back (for a nicer overall look, you can make a horizontal cut in the torso where the cape flaps need to go, as I did, and glue them on the inside of the body, so the flaps are not visible at the end).

As this point you want to think of making the craft sturdier. Since she is holding the sword in her hands, I filled out her arm with rolls of paper. Super pro assembly tip: if you have a part of a papercraft that need to be especially sturdier than the others, fill it out with paper stripes from the inside. These can be curled-up to form a kid of roll, which you can jam up the parts that need to be harder, and later won’t be seen when the craft is ready.

All you have to do now is make the legs. Since she has the skirt, you can make the legs separate and then glue them on at the hips, since it’s easier that way, and you can additionally fill the legs with weights to make her stand better. Make the legs from bottom to top, following each stripe of paper, and when you are finished, glue the 2D gold stripes on her shoes. Now add in the weights in the shoes to make her firmly stand before gluing it to the already build body (I always use small pebbles or gavel, depending on how much space there is to fill, since they are small enough to throw into the inside of the legs and are at the same time heavy enough to pin the legs down). And then glue it together.

If the hands are built in the correct angle, the sword should be able to stand inside the hand, such as mine. If not, you can always use a small dot of glue and glue the sword into the hand for good.

And there you go, She-Ra in all her mighty glory ;) Definitely one of the hardest papercrafts I have done in a while, but you really get to appreciate the ones you put more time and effort into at the end. It probably took me about 3 days to make, I didn’t time how much hours per day that was, since I took my sweet time with the making of the hands, because the template was printed too small XD that’s what you get if you want to save money on prints, oh well…

Ponyta (Pokemon) built papercraft

Pokemon time! And time to show my built Ponyta I recently put together (If nothing else, these quarantine times are a great way for me to really get my papercrafting going and make things that were due ages ago, so at least I got that going for me this year XD).

The papercraft is about 25 cm tall, so it’s quite big and comfortable to work with, since the only small fiddly parts are the hooves. So, I would say it’s probably about a 6/10 on a difficulty scale. It took me probably 12 hours to make, but as always said, it depends how quick you are.

As with all my builds, I make it from head to bottom. So first I made the 2 ears and made my way to make the mane around it. The mane (and later the fire on the legs and tail) have some 2-sided parts that are just glued together, it is visible from the template, so they are actually easy to make, since you just put them together with the matching same ends of the stripes. I made the mane all the way to the tip, and after that made my way, gluing stripe by stripe, to make the head all the way to the neck part.

Since the hooves are a bit tricky to make, I decided to make the 4 legs separately and then glue them one by one on the body, since I think it’s easier to make and you don’t have the problem of things falling down as you would constantly rotate the body with the parts. I made the 4 legs the same way, bottom to top, making sure to keep in mind that the fire part of each leg is simply glued together. That way it’s again simple to put together, and the legs hold really well if you want to put weights in them or reinforce them from the inside.

Once I had the 4 legs, I took the head with the neck part I made before and glued the 2 front legs on, then glued the other part of the body and the 4 back legs. Be careful, since when putting the 2 back legs on at the end can be a bit tricky, so do take your time, glue 1 by 1 flap to make it neatly attached together.

Now that you have the horse with 4 legs, you can already see if the Pokemon will stand or not. I found the papercraft to be very top-heavy, so I did put in some pebbles in the front and back right legs. That way it does not tip over and stands with ease. - If you are building it yourself, you have to check the balance at this point, since you have a hole left for the tail attachment, so use that to put in weights at this point.

And once you get it ready and standing, all that is left is the tail. You glue that one the same way you made the mane, with some parts that are mirrored in the flaps to be glued together, till you reach the tip. At that point all you need to do it glue the last tip to the remaining tail to close it, and the papercraft is ready.

I do find the pose to be very pleasing to the eye, it really captures the dynamic wild nature of Ponyta and it now has a special place in my papercraft display at home :) I was wondering if I should make the shiny version, since the template has both, but I did then decide to make the normal one so you get a look at the actual color. But I am thinking of making the shiny version next, since I love the blue flames on Ponyta so much XD

Charlie (Hazbin Hotel) built papercraft

Charlie (Hazbin Hotel) built papercraft

Another one for the built gallery, and this time it’s not anime XD Some time ago the 1. Episode of “Hazbin Hotel” and “Helluva Boss” have come out and people, including me, went crazy, coz the cartoon is so amazing and adult and different (and I really hope a whole season will come out for this soon…). And in any case, since I loved it so much, I made the main character, Charlie, as a papercraft and here she is now.

The whole papercraft is unfolded to 25 cm so she was REALLY HARD TO DO XD I admit I made this one too small, since the fingers were so petite and small that they look like toothpicks now that they are made XD Good thing that when you buy the papercraft template for me, you can always ask me to re-size the papercraft if it’s too small or too big, so keep that in mind for this one (that’s why I always say if there is a problem or questions, you can always contact me for info or help anytime). It really has small parts. Especially since she is so slender, it’s quite the workout to make, so I would say a 9/10 on a difficulty scale.

I started making her like any papercraft, at the head. Made the face and then the front hair. After I had the front hair, I glued those flaps on the assembled face and then made all of the hair in the back. She has a open tail at the end of the hair, so you can close the head there really.

Ultra pro tip 1: Be careful when putting together the hair at the back, because 4 stripes of hair have flaps on both sides. Those need to be glued together, and then you glue the 2-sided hair braids on each side at the end. You can see what I mean when you look how the hair is made.

After the head was done, I made the really super small fiddly fingers and hands. Since 1 part of the hand is glued on the inside of the pink coat, you can glue those hands on last, so that’s a big help for assembling it easier.

After that, I made the coat and glue it on carefully on the neck part. Again, since she is very thin, I do suggest to reinforce the inside of the neck with additional paper so it doesn’t break. Also, the coat has that black neck part, so that is 2-sided and is glued on the coat BEFORE you glue on the neck with the button parts. So, make the head with the neck and button part first, then the coat with the black neck, and THEN glue those together. That way it fits perfectly and you can adjust the angle of the head the right way.

Then the only thing left is to make the legs. Since the feet and legs can be built and glued separately, I suggest you do it like that. I made the feet first, bottom to top, and then the legs, bottom to top. At the end, glue the feet on the inner side of the legs and you have the bottom part really.

Now comes the fun part. I actually didn’t think that the papercraft would stand, but it actually does, and pretty good really. It can stand without any help, but I did fill the legs with small pebbles at the end, before gluing the 2 parts together, because it makes it sturdier and she will never fall over that way (Ultra pro tip 2: Use pebbles or gravel as weights in your papercrafts, since they are small enough to fit in every inner part and at the same time heavy enough to support any craft. When using them be sure to close the parts as tightly as possible and make sure that it is firmly glued together, so that the weight won’t re-open those parts.)

When you fill the bottom part with weights, glue both parts together, and be sure to adjust the angle again, so it will stand the way it should. And there she is, sexy super skinny Charlie from Hazbin Hotel :)
