Blue Diamond (Steven Universe) built papercraft

The Steven Universe cartoon series is sadly over for some time now, BUT that doesn’t mean that the fans are over the hype and everything it teaches us. No freaking way! One of the most epic series in a long time, and I really enjoyed every single episode of it. And as it was in these long lockdown days, I was re-hyping myself for the series again and watching some of the best song clips online, when I decided to make my favorite Diamond of the main 4, of which I have made all 4 as papercrafts, but I also wanted to have one built and standing in my showcase.

So, I decided to make my Blue Diamond papercraft. Why? I think she is the most awesome out of all 4, for me personally. Just the esthetics of the few first episodes it showed her, the mystics behind it, the first shown Diamond in the cartoon, her power, the sheer endless sadness she expressed with her presence, the 80s anime silhouette that immediately reminded me of beautiful old anime movies such as “The Last Unicorn”, “Capitan Harlock” or “Interstella5555”, it was love at first site really. And that’s a pretty rare thing for me, since I probably watched (no kidding) over 100.000 different anime/cartoons + counting, and you can’t pull me on the “totally love it” side with most of them. But this one hit the spot :)

Blue Diamond
Moving on to the assembly, the papercraft of Blue Diamond is unfolded to about 40 cm, since she IS a Diamond and huge, and it’s a great height to comfortably put together all parts. That being said, the only small parts that can be fiddly are the nose and the fingers, other than that it is mostly a walk in the part.

As always, I started making the face first (with the neck), and then the hair around. I finished the hair about ½ through, since I didn’t want to close it already, before finishing and attaching the head on the upper torso part, because trust me, you want to make the torso first and then attach the head. Really easier that way. So, I moved on to make her hands separately, to get that out of the way, and then the whole arms with the hands. Next came the top torso part of the body till the hips, so I had enough to attach the finished arms on it.

Once you have the upper torso with the finished hands and the separate head with half the hair, you can attach both parts together at the neck. Just push the neck with the flaps inside the torso hole, and smear the flaps from the inside of the torso with glue. Once the glue is on, fold them on the inside of the torso to glue it where it belongs, and you have yourself half of the papercraft finished.

Once the head is on the torso and the glue dries, make sure to reinforce the neck with additional jammed-up paper on the inside, so you make sure the neck doesn’t snap. I did that with the leftover paper from cutting out the template pieces, as always, so you can integrate those pieces without making any additional trash, which is always nice.

Now that the torso and the head are firmly attached and reinforced, I finished the rest of the hair on the back and closed it. Make sure to take extra time to glue the last piece on, flap by flap, since it can get a bit fiddly closing it like this. BUT since the back hair are very close to the torso, believe me, it is way easier to make it with these steps, than just building it all in 1 and then gluing it on, because you can get some problems gluing the arms on like that.

All that was left to do was to make the rest of the dress and close it. Again, since the dress pieces are the biggest of all of the template pieces, be sure to get a firm grip on those inside flaps, so it’s really neatly put together. Since I got small hands and fingers, I mostly do everything by hand, but I definitely suggest using other tools to help yourself if you can’t reach parts (such as sticks, tweezers, rulers, etc…).

And once you close the dress at the bottom, you got yourself you owl Blue Diamond. She stands perfectly, since the dress has a big surface and it’s flat and the upper body is in sync with everything. So, there is no need to additionally put weights in it, but you can always do so if you want to be 1000% sure. But it won’t fall over so easily even without.

And there you go, as you can see from the pictures, my own built and assembled Blue Diamond. It is the design of the older series, since I made her around the 2. season… probably, where she was still unhappy and miserable. BUT that’s the Blue I fell in love with, since these kinds of esthetics are really appealing to me, and the pose is also somewhat like an icon.

*Btw. also added some plastic sparkly stones around her when I took the pictures (coz I happen to have them around), since it looks more fancy and original that way XD nothing special, just wanted to enhance her "blue-ness" :D

The template and info on how to buy them (just write me a note/message) can be found here:

I hope you like her and that it sparks some forgotten Steven Universe hype with all of the fans out there, which lets you remember why these series was so freaking awesome. Happy crafting~

White Diamond (Steven Universe) commission

Here we are. Saturday and Sunday I got time to post more commissions, and on Monday I am going to start with new projects, so today I present you my Steven Universe White Diamond papercraft commission.

The papercraft model of White Diamond is made anew, so it's not the same as my White Diamond papercraft for sale, since I make new ones for every commission like take on.

The commissioner wanted to have a 10 meter big White Diamond craft, so as you can see the unfold is not really finished, and yes you heard right, 10 meter not 1 meter, though I did save it to 1 meter heigh to the pieces can be adjusted by the commissioner. Else the pose is from the referece picture in the post and is the same as my model. Pretty much everything is a joned 3D model, some pieces are separate, such as the 2D fingernails, the 2D 2-sided coat, the dress etc.

***This is a paid commissioned papercraft. Commissioned crafts cannot be re-sold, with some exceptions. If you are interested in buying the template or have any other questions, please message me in private on DeviantArt or on my Facebook page.

If you are interested in a paid commission, or have any questions regarding my commissions and the general process, you can read about those here:

Pink Diamond (Steven Universe) papercraft

Last 2 on the home stretch people, and my big Steven Universe papercraft project will be over. So, let's reveal today the ah-so-mysterious Pink Diamond! She is a character that you just always want to know more about in the cartoon and sometimes it got so frustrating for me not knowing what's going on with her XD But all was revealed, some traumas here and there, and we get that her alter ego was Rose Quartzs and that she is the mom of our beloved Steven :) She is just somebody to really stir up things in a literal sense, but love her for her unique character at the end.

The papercraft itself is 36 cm tall, since I wanted all of them to work in a bundle, so I unfolded them to a relative height so they are as big or small as in the cartoon/movie. Since they are Diamonds, they should be bigger, but as you can see in the cartoon, they are really big and therefore I chose to unfold them to a relative height. Also Pink is the child of the Diamond bunch, so she is 4cm smaller than the other Diamonds, but still bigger than any of the Gems :) She has a 3D body, 3D hair and a template with 8 different printable pages for you to make her. Again she has 5 fingers to make, else it's easy-peasy crafting fun ;)

Only 1 character to reveal as last, but just WHOOO COULD IT BE? XD Jokes aside, I really do hope you like them, nearly finished here with the papercrafts. For any feedback of any kind is really appreciated and I do hope you write a thing or 2 below, for any of my papercraft designs that is ;)

Happy crafting~

Rose Quartz (Steven Universe) papercraft

Next and last for this week is the most mysterious character that we wanted to know everything about from 1 episode but got all the info in the last season XD, how else could it be, the one that started a galactic war and turned everything upside down, the one and only Rose Quartz. I know that when I first saw her she reminded me of Sailor Moon's Princess Serenty outfit, and I immediately fell in love with her. And she is pretty much amazing and tough, I mean hell, she turned a whole galactic empire of gems agains her, a whole freaking kingdom of concquerors, that takes some serious ovaries ladies, take a note of her courage! She is really a strong female role-model in this cartoon, but again not without her own flaws. That's why I love this cartoon so much ;)

The papercraft itself is 33 cm tall, since I wanted all of them to work in a bundle, so I unfolded them to a relative height so they are as big or small as in the cartoon/movie. So she is the biggest of the already released papercraft Gems, a bit bigger than Garnet. Also, as mentioned, I have designed these while watching the latest movie from September 2019, so her clothes and style are from the movie. She has a 3D body, with 3D hair and some 2D 2-sided accessories of her hair, to make her curles really stand out! The hair is huge, yes, but that is why she is so lovable, as Steven said himself, I want you to be a giant woman ;) The craft has 19 pages to print, because of her height and the curly hair. She also has her gem that can be built and just glued on her tummy as well.

Hope you like them, and next week I got some more of the big shots, (SPOILER) the diamonds, to post and then the project is done. And, if you like them, or if you have any other characters of this series that you would REALLY, REALLY, DESPERATELY like to see made into a papercraft, you can comment below as well, and we’ll see if I already made it or if I can squeeze in some extra wishes to those make for you as well :)

Lapis (Steven Universe) papercraft

Next in line for my enormous Steven Universe papercraft pack is the ever so secret and self-reliant yet a veryloyal soul: Lapis. The way she handeled her agonising imprisonment and found the inner strenght to trust the Gems again, her flowy and wild hair depicting her confused state of mind, loved her symbolism in the cartoon and loved the sceene where she revealed her wings and gem for the first time. An epic moment in the season, definetly! A must-watch :)

The papercraft itself is 26cm tall, since I wanted all of them to work in a bundle, so I unfolded them to a relative height so they are as big or small as in the cartoon/movie. She has 5 pages to print. Also, as mentioned, I have designed these while watching the latest movie from September 2019, so her clothes and style are from the movie. She has a 3D body, with 3D hair and some 2D accessories. I also had to do her water wings, although you can make her without, since they are only 2D and 2-sided. I do however suggest to make these epic things along, and attaching and gluing them on simply with flat wire (as you maybe saw with my Halloween Pikachu Witch and Halloween Mimikyu Pikachu tails, where they become attached and articulated, a really nice trick to do the work with such simple papercraft designs). If you need a tip on that, you can contact me and I can explain what I mean if you didn't already use that trick anywhere; so you can make it yourself and it will have her super sweet wings! Anything for Lapis! :D

Hope you like them, continuing with the next and next and next one these almost 2 weeks remaining, as said. And, if you like them, or if you have any other characters of this series that you would REALLY, REALLY, DESPERATELY like to see made into a papercraft, you can comment below as well, and we’ll see if I already made it or if I can squeeze in some extra wishes to those make for you as well :)
