I got itchy fingers and wanted to do some Pokemon papercrafts again. But none of the designers making Pokecrafts actually take the time to make their own textures and models (which is really sad, because the original models, no matter what, have an absolute crappy texture quality), so I wanted to take my time to make my own models and textures and make something special. – And since it’s the season of Halloween and overall dressing up as somebody different, I wanted to make a concept of that and made some cosplay Pokemon for those :D
Paired up with my idea of Halloween and the adorable reference illustration I found online, I decided to do a prince Piplup cosplay costume, since it does evolve into Empoleon and that would be the king, so he has a to be a prince :D
The papercraft itself is unfolded to a 23 cm heigh, which makes Piplup himself about 19-20 cm tall. It consists of a 3D Piplup model, a separate 3D crown, a 2D royal coat, a separate 3D trident and some 2D bows and decoration.
The template consists of 8 printable pages, since the optional crown is quite detailed in itself. The trident it pretty box-like made and shouldn’t be that hard, and some smaller parts can be found on Piplup with the beak and the feet. So, because of the detailed crown I would say it’s a 6/10, a big tedious to make, but not as hard as it looks as well.
***This is a premium papercraft that you need to purchase in order to receive the PDF and blank PDO files for assembly. – You can find all information about the PayPal purchase in the provided upper outgoing link.***
Hope you like my take on the Pokemon and that gives a bit of a spark in the papercraft community to try a bit of a different approach to Pokemon papercrafts in general and what can be made in terms of motives as well as execution.
Enjoy and happy crafting~
