Sadao Maou (Hataraku Maou-sama!) built papercraft

Since the new season will come out this week, time to post this finished assembly of the Demon lord made out of paper XD Sadao Maou, that is probably one of the leading anime characters promoting MC'D disgusting »food«, if you ca even call it as that in any case XD but yeah, Japanese tend to idolize a lot of crappy stuff without thinking twice about it, so I hope at least the animation studio is getting paid a LOT of ad-money for this one so they can continue the anime.

Regardless of the in-ad-placements, the anime is super funny and engaging, so I’ll definitely watch it and if you don’t know it yet, give it a try as well. Definitely one of the better anime seasons of 2022!

As for the papercraft itself, you can see how it looks assembled and built in the preview pictures. The template itself and the info of it can be found here:

***This is a premium papercraft that you need to purchase in order to receive the PDF and blank PDO files for assembly. – You can find all information about the PayPal purchase in the provided upper outgoing link.***

Best way to start this assembly is by either making the separate cape or the head really. For the cape you make the shoulder pads first (by following the PDO file btw; it’s all in there when you purchase the files, so no worries). When you have the pads, start making either the inner out outer side of the cape and glue the upper parts on the shoulder pads and then glue the remaining either inner or outer parts of the cape on there, so the flaps are hidden at the pads part. Be sure to also bend the cape at the left-hand part a bit, since that part goes around the arm, and if you bend it a little bit and pre-shape it, it fits better on the body at the end.

Next, make the head (with the neck part) by starting at the face and make your way to the back of the hair part. At the bottom head part where the hair end is a small hole that helps you getting those last parts on, so use that to make and close the head (the hole is not visible at the end, since it’s covered with the hair). When that is done, you can make the separate visor and you can glue that one on the hair.

When you have the head, you can make the separate hands and arms. When those are also done, make the upper part of the torso aka shirt and when you have the sleeves done, glue the arms in at the right angle by just putting glue on the remaining folds of the arms and putting it in there. That way it’s super simple to make. Do the same with the pre-made head and glue it inside the collar and glue the remaining part of the shirt together – upper torso part, done.

Next you can make the shoes and the feet separate. When you have the 2 shoes, glue them inside the pre-build feet and let it dry. At this point, you can now fill the leg part with weights so it holds better. *Super-pro-tip: I always use small pebbles to fill any kind of humanoid leg parts, since they are heavy enough to make the craft stand how it needs to, they do not rip the paper open, and they are small enough to fit in those smaller holes on the inside, so they really fill out the whole inside as they should, to make the counterweight count.

When the legs are done, put glue on the remaining flaps and glue it on the pre-made upper torso part at the right angle, so it stands. After that, all that you have to do it place the optional cape on the shoulders (that should fit perfectly if you pre-bend the coat to the shape of the body) and glue it in its place with the small 2D chains so it doesn’t fall off. You can also leave out the cape and just have Sadao like that, looks also fine without it in any case :)

And it’s finished and done. Hope you like the preview and that it animates you to make a papercraft or 2 of your own, and that you’ll also enjoy the anime when it airs.

Enjoy and happy crafting~
