Emma (Yakusoku no Neverland) built papercraft
Since it's one of my cutest papercrafts this year and since I love the series, I had to assemble the papercraft myself as well XD So here is the result.
As with all of my humanoid papercrafts, I started at the head. I made the face with the neck first, and then made the front bangs of the hair. Gluing the flaps of the front bangs on the flaps of the face and then making my way to the back to close the head. She has a lot of hair, and stripes of bushy hair between the head stripes, so it takes some time to get that done. Also, the hair parts that are between can be 2-sided so you get the color on both sides, so that even takes a bit longer to make still. This part is the fiddliest of them all, because you have to make sure to make it neatly and to close it at the back, where the hole in the head is. At the end, when you reach the hole, it can also be closed with an extra part or you can leave it out, either way the hole is not visible when viewing from a front angle.
When the head with all the bushy wild hair is done, I moved to make the hands. I made the fingers first, put them together, and then glued them on the hands. After those I made the separate sleeves of the blouse. When I got the sleeves, I joined them together with the neck part of the blouse and attached the head inside the hole. When it dries, fill out the neck with additional rolled-up paper from the leftover templates you cut out, to make it stand better and that it doesn’t click over as well.
All that you got to do for this part is not to put the hands that you build before, inside the sleeves and glue them at the right angle (The top part of the hands can be a bit crumbed up to fit inside the sleeves, since the only visible parts are the hands – so you can make a shortcut that way and just put them in like that. Else, if you really want to make them neatly, you have to built the sleeves to a half, glue the arms on, and then glue the remaining part of the sleeves on, which is much more complicated.).
When you got this done, glue the remaining stripes of the blouse on there and the upper body part is ready.
Now we have the bottom part to make, separately. The bottom part can be again divided in 2 parts, the belly part (which is not visible and is glued under the blouse) and the legs. I made the feet first, then legs and last joining them together with the pants, building them from bottom to top, since when making it that way, you have a better grip to assemble the parts and you can fill the feet out with weights at the end, so it stands better. I always use small gravel that I throw just in the feet so the craft doesn’t fall over, and they work really well, since the weight is also perfect for the paper.
After you got the legs, make the belly part with the skirt separately. The skirt needs to be neatly folded to get that harmonica Japanese schoolgirl look, so fold those neatly and glue the parts together.
After this you should have 3 separate parts: the upper body, the belly with the skirt and the legs. First join the belly and skirt part to the upper torso, gluing it together in the inner side of the blouse and adjusting the angle a bit to the right, so she is slightly tilted, since that is the pose of the papercraft. When you got this glued together, all you need to do is glue the legs (with the weights already inside) on the inside edge of the skirt, adjusting the angle of them so she can stand nicely, and there you go.
Last, you can put on all those little extra 2D parts that you left out, such as the standing hairs on top and at the back of the head, as well as the shoelaces on her boots and the ears.
And Emma from Neverland is done. Probably took me about +/−12 hours to make, including cutting and folding time, but I am a fast builder, so take the time you need.
