Bijou (Hamtaro) papercraft

Decided to do a Hamtaro-series and make some of the main characters of the anime “Hamtaro”, because I just loved the anime so much when I watched it many years ago. I have decided to do 10 of my favorite hamsters from the 1. season anime, since the art-style was still cuter than the ones that followed, where you could still see them kind of round, chubby, cuddly and cute, so I was going for that look while making them.

This is “Bijou”, as the name already says, she is the prettiest hamster of the bunch. And Hamtaro is in love with her as well XD duhhh. She is smaller than the others, and really sweet and girly.

The papercraft is unfolded to 16 cm and has 6 pages to print. The craft is made out of a 3D attached body, so everything is made in 3D and you simply follow the edge ID PDF instructions you get with the templates to make it. The feet are separate and also 3D, so they are built and just glued on the bottom part. It also has 2D eyes, 2D whiskers and 2D 2-sided ribbons, so it looks more realistic and anime-like than it would with only the flat texture on. The hands and feet are a bit smaller and fiddlier to make, other parts of the body should be simpler in comparison.

This one is called “Sandy”, and is one of the 2 twin striped hamsters. Probably my fav, since she is sporty and active and really adorable :)

The papercraft is unfolded to 17 cm and has 5 pages to print. The craft is made out of a 3D attached body, so everything is made in 3D and you simply follow the edge ID PDF instructions you get with the templates to make it. The feet are separate and also 3D, so they are built and just glued on the bottom part. It also has 2D eyes and 2D whiskers (and a simple 2D tail with bow), so it looks more realistic and anime-like than it would with only the flat texture on. The hands and feet are a bit smaller and fiddlier to make, other parts of the body should be simpler in comparison.

This is “Howdy”. He is super fun and the only one with a different face than others. He is active and I think he likes to cook and has a Kansai-dialect, which all anime characters have if they want to be funny (yeah Japanese people are racist even to themselves XD).

Oxnard (Hamtaro) papercraft

Decided to do a Hamtaro-series and make some of the main characters of the anime “Hamtaro”, because I just loved the anime so much when I watched it many years ago. This is Hamtaro’s best friend, called “Oxnard”. He is super sleepy and loves to eat sunflower seeds all the time XD kind of like my spirit animal, since I love to sleep and eat :D Else, he has a really cute texture, with all the spots and is one of the biggest out of the bunch.

Hamtaro (Hamtaro) built papercraft

Here you can see the built papercraft of my Hamtaro-series design ;) Wanted to build 1, because all of the characters are basically built the same and just vary in textures (+ some add-ons), so you can see how all of them should look like.

The papercraft is made out of a 3D body, with separate 3D feet and some 2D add-ons. And because you know how my assembly process usually goes, I always make the most difficult things first, so then all that is left are the simple parts. So, for this papercraft I decided to make the smaller hands/paws first and then the separate feet. After I had those, I made the 2 3D ears and made the whole head part. After the head, I made the upper part of the body, so I could attach the 3D paws I made before, and attached that to the head. All that was left was to make the small tail and close the body at the end on the bottom part at the feet. And I had the 3D body ready.

After I had the body, I glued it to the separate 3D feet and Hamtaro was made. All that was left was to make the 2D 2-sided leaf and glue it on its head and the whiskers and eyes. Be sure to look at the template when gluing the eyes on, because I rotated them the way they should be glued on the face, because if you rotate them wrong it can look as if he was squinting XD so you got to watch out for that.

And just like that the Hamtaro papercraft is ready. It can stand firmly on both feet, although they look small, because I did weight it out and it stands on the body just in the middle and in balance, so there is no need to reinforce the craft to make it stand or anything. Of course, you can always choose to do so if you want the papercraft to hold on longer and to be sure, if you think you can’t balance it out when assembling.

You can find all info on the unfold here:

I hope you like it and make some papercrafts for yourself. Happy crafting~

Hamtaro (Hamtaro) papercraft

Decided to do a Hamtaro-series and make some of the main characters of the anime “Hamtaro”, because I just loved the anime so much when I watched it many years ago. I have decided to do 10 of my favorite hamsters from the 1. season anime, since the art-style was still cuter than the ones that followed, where you could still see them kind of round, chubby, cuddly and cute, so I was going for that look while making them.

Hamtaro
This one is the main character of the anime, of course, the one that gives the anime its name, it’s Hamtaro! I made him with his typical cute leaf on the head, which makes him 100% cuter than without, and because I wanted the main character to be a bit different than the other bunch.

The papercraft is unfolded to 18 cm and has 5 pages to print. The craft is made out of a 3D attached body, so everything is made in 3D and you simply follow the edge ID PDF instructions you get with the templates to make it. The feet are separate and also 3D, so they are built and just glued on the bottom part. It also has 2D eyes and 2D whiskers (and of course the 2D leaf), so it looks more realistic and anime-like than it would with only the flat texture on. The hands and feet are a bit smaller and fiddlier to make, other parts of the body should be simpler in comparison.

And because he is so cute and I wanted you to see how these hamsters look like built (because they are are more or less the same to assemble, just vary in texture and some add-ons they have), I have also put together Hamtaro myself. You can see the glued together papercraft here:
