Lightning McQueen (Cars) papercraft commission

Another papercraft commission I can share a preview of, and this time its’ something completely different than what I do XD Normally you would never see me make cars and stuff like that, I really dislike doing this stuff, but since it’s a fictional character from the Pixar movie “Cars”, I said, why not, always nice to try new things and making my skills better at modeling.

So, here we have the main character of all 3 Cars movies: Lightning McQueen. The texture is from his early racing days, since I know he has a lot of different styles in the cartoon or the games.

The papercraft itself is unfolded to a height of about 14 cm and has 18 pages to print. The big surprise with this craft it, that: The wheels actually move like a real car.

I have made a simple bat-axis system in it so the wheels can rotate on the axis or if you want it simpler, you poke a stick through the wheels at the end Sometimes just having that simpler idea option with the craft is a very good backup as a mental boost to try to make the complicated version first and really trying your best at new things and seeing what you can do with the papercraft. That’s why you see the flat versions of the underparts bellow the papercraft, because it has that easier option to it, as well as the complex moving wheels option.

The papercraft itself is made by me and the textures are references from the Pixar/Disney games with this character, because I have no idea how cars are made nor do I want to know It gives it that original cartoon vibe, as the commissioner wanted.
