Red Blood Cell / Sekkekkyuu (Cells At Work) papercraft

Maybe you remember one of the first polls I have asked at the beginning of this year, where I was asking what papercrafts my watchers would like me to do. As you maybe remember that poll, some of the voted for anime characters I have already made and fulfilled my promise to make them into papercrafts. But there was also an anime in that poll that was also quite high on the agenda, since a lot of people voted for it, and that was the anime: Hataraku Saibou / Cells at Work! Although the second season and the movie were postponed to 2021 next year, it’s still a very popular anime till this day. And especially because I don’t like to leave things half-done and I try to keep all my promises, I made the 3 main characters into papercrafts. So here you go! :)

The first “Cells at work” papercraft I had to make was “Sekkekkyuu” or “Red Blood Cell”, because I actually cosplayed her at Makkon (the biggest anime event in my country) and made the whole costume and everything myself, that’s why she is so dear to me. That was about 2 years ago and I still think she’s really cute and awesome, although a bit clumsy and dorky XD

Smile - Red blood cell | Hataraku Saibou (TV)
The papercraft unfold itself is unfolded to 27 cm and has 7 pages to print. She is made out of a 3D attached body, a separate red jacket you build on her, her typical red blood cell shaped hat and a simple 3D box for transporting oxygen that she carries in her hands. The pose is simple and she holds the box in her hands, making sure that she doesn’t fall over, so she stands without any help with weights or reinforcing on both her feet. The hat and the box can be made so they can be removed and don’t need to be glued on. Just the jacket doesn’t come off once you put it on, since you have to make it in the middle of assembling her upper torso with the hands.

Also, as with all of my latest anime girl papercrafts, the base model is simple to make. Not only does she have just the right amount of polygons to still look anime-like and be simple enough to make into a built craft, she also has a functional hole in her head (where you can’t see it, beneath her hair), which is used to make the head assembly super simple, since you have a big hole to use to make the head and attach the hair in  a super neat way. So, except for the somewhat fiddly fingers she should be quite easy to glue together.

I hope you like the little red blood cell and make your own soon ;)

Filo - bird (Tate no Yuusha) built papercraft

Finally, I was able to make another one of my papercraft designs, so I present you my Filo papercraft in all its glory.

The papercraft is actually not hard to make, it just takes time. Since I wanted it to be super fluffy, just like bird Filo in the anime, I added a lot of 2D feathers that you glue in between the seams of the body, so that takes time. Else it’s rather simple to make.

I actually fist made the “fillers” or the long hair feathers on her head, since I wanted them to be special and movable. Here we use the first “SUPER ULTRA ASSEMBLY TIP”. I therefore used my wire trick, gluing wire that is used in most flower shops to wire flowers so they can stand and grow on supporting sticks, and glued it in between both sides of the fillers. With the wire inside and invisible, the fillers can now be moved in every direction, just like the wire, and you get a movable and interactive part of your papercraft. Else, the fillers would probably not stand so high, so it’s a simple yet super effective move to use when making it, so definitely recommending it.

After the fillers are done, some wire is still sticking out at the end part of the fillers, which is used to make a hole in the head (that I assembled next, along with the neck part – the collar) and then gluing them on the inside of the head, so they hold on the part they should. I used duct tape to glue them on the inside, so it really holds firmly, so I also suggest you do that for your assembly.

The head was finished at that stage, so I made my way to make another bothersome part of the body, which are the feet. Why? Because you got 4 of the same toes on every foot that you have to glue together, so making feet/hands is always the most annoying and boring part of the assembly to make, so I like to get rid of that as soon as possible, so I made those next.

After I had both feet made to the ankles, you actually have a really simple and fun build left. You build the body around the feet, starting at the tail part. And since the papercraft has a hole in the tail part, and you can attach the head at the end, you always have 2 holes/exists to help yourself with the assembly, so that’s really nice for a change, since I’m always used to make fiddly sticking parts together with no space XD

Now you have the body part and the head part assembled. Now it’s time for my “SUPER ULTRA ASSEMBLY TIP” nr. 2 for this craft! What is it? Well, if you maybe looked closely at the papercraft, the head is actually movable, did you see that? Well yes, THE HEAD CAN ROTATE. How? Super simple. You just print out the blue-collar piece (1 piece) 2x and glue one on the still separately built head and one on the still separately built body. After you have 2 collars on the parts, simply put the head collar over the body collar part, and it holds together! As simple as that. The seams are not visible, it looks built, and you have a super neat trick to make the head rotate in all directions. And both pieces fit like a glove, since it’s the same part of the papercraft and it doesn’t slip off.

I actually wanted to write the moving tricks down when I released the template for the papercraft, but I wanted to be 100% that the head can be rotated and build it myself, and now you know! It works really great :)

I hope you like the fluffball and happy crafting~

Shuichi Kagaya (Gleipnir) papercraft

Decided to do the new “Gleipnir” anime main character called “Shuichi Kagaya”, because I do find it interesting, although it’s very oversexualized, but I’m still interested in the plot and what it’s all about. Actually, never saw a concept of an anime like that, so I was immediately intrigued with the mascot monster form he transforms into and I wanted to make it into a papercraft, so here it is :)

Moja Moja emoticon 1P
The papercraft is unfolded to 30 cm and has 9 pages to print. It’s made out of a 3D model, so it’s simple to make. And it also has some extra 2D add-ons to make it more interesting and life-like such as the suspenders or whatever you call ‘em, his cute cowboy smiling star, the zipper at the back, etc. And he also has to have his gun holster (in 3D – a simple box form that is just glued on the body), because it just fits on him, although I don’t make guns at all, but in this case at least the holster, since it’s part of the character/monster concept, I guess.

The pose is simple and it shouldn’t be hard to assemble as well. It should stand with no problems at all, since both feet are on the ground and the polygons are also reduced by a fail amount. Needless to say, the model, pose and texture were all made by me, character is from the anime, as said.

I hope you’re watching the anime and you’ll give it a go, and I also hope you like the papercraft as well. Till then and happy crafting~

Arte (Arte) papercraft

Saw this wonderful new anime that started this spring season and I am hooked on it. Since I am a women’s rights supporter, artist and a woman myself, I find these kinds of anime refreshing and they depict the struggle women had to go through to get their place in working society and still go through to this day. So I am fully supporting this cute anime, although it is set in a somewhat fictional Florence alongside Leonardo da Vinci, with not so historically-accurate facts, it can still teach a lot of people, men and women alike, how they should strive and put their own effort into things that they want to do for a living and never give up no matter what people tell you!

little star little star little star little star little star little star
The main character is a young artist called “Arte”, from the Italian word arte for “art”, that wants to strive to become the first woman in her time to be able to live off art and pursue it as a professional living and passion. She is giving it all her effort and all her energy into learning art, no matter what people tell her, if they spit in her face or tell her she can’t do it, SHE MAKES IT ANYWAY. And that is what I find inspirational, especially for our times when things are getting hard for us as well.

The papercraft is unfolded to 26 cm, since I wanted to make her bigger and grander, and has 7 pages to print. It is made out of a separate 3D Arte model, with some 2D add-ons (such as the dress, belt, drawings…), as well as 2 separate 3D paintbrushes that she holds in her left hand. Except for the 3 drawings that were edited out of the manga, everything is made by me, model, texture, pose and unfold, the character belonging to the company releasing the anime and manga.

She has 2 feet under the skirt, don’t know if you can see it on the pictures, so she stands just fine. And of course, the model is based off my girl model base, which means she is simple to make. The hair at the back has a hole in the head (which you cannot see when built), so you can help yourself making the head and glue it together super easy. The brushes, since they are smaller and 3D, as well as the fingers are the fiddly parts to assemble, else it’s average difficulty to make.

I hope you’re watching the anime and you’ll give it a go, and I also hope you like the papercraft as well. Till then and happy crafting~

Pashmina (Hamtaro) papercraft

Decided to do a Hamtaro-series and make some of the main characters of the anime “Hamtaro”, because I just loved the anime so much when I watched it many years ago. I have decided to do 10 of my favorite hamsters from the 1. season anime, since the art-style was still cuter than the ones that followed, where you could still see them kind of round, chubby, cuddly and cute, so I was going for that look while making them.

The cutie hamster of the bunch, called “Pashmina”. She is known for her cute pink scarf and is the best friend of “Penelope”, another female hamster.

The papercraft is unfolded to 17 cm and has 5 pages to print. The craft is made out of a 3D attached body, so everything is made in 3D and you simply follow the edge ID PDF instructions you get with the templates to make it. The feet are separate and also 3D, so they are built and just glued on the bottom part. It also has 2D eyes, 2D whiskers and her typical 2D pink scarf, so it looks more realistic and anime-like than it would with only the flat texture on. The hands and feet are a bit smaller and fiddlier to make, other parts of the body should be simpler in comparison.

The smallest hamster of the bunch, called “Penelope”. She is covered with a yellow blanket, since she feels safe that was and is the best friend of “Pashmina”, another female hamster.

Dexter (Hamtaro) papercraft

Decided to do a Hamtaro-series and make some of the main characters of the anime “Hamtaro”, because I just loved the anime so much when I watched it many years ago. I have decided to do 10 of my favorite hamsters from the 1. season anime, since the art-style was still cuter than the ones that followed, where you could still see them kind of round, chubby, cuddly and cute, so I was going for that look while making them.

This one is called “Dexter”, and as the translation of the name suggest, he is really smart. He also has the “glasses” aka colored fur as if he was wearing glasses, to prove it XD I wish real life was as simple as some of these designs in anime, damn… XD

The papercraft is unfolded to 18 cm and has 6 pages to print. The craft is made out of a 3D attached body, so everything is made in 3D and you simply follow the edge ID PDF instructions you get with the templates to make it. The feet are separate and also 3D, so they are built and just glued on the bottom part. It also has 2D eyes, 2D whiskers and 2D red bow, so it looks more realistic and anime-like than it would with only the flat texture on. The hands and feet are a bit smaller and fiddlier to make, other parts of the body should be simpler in comparison.

This one is called “Panda”, because it obviously looks like a panda XD with the cute colored eyes and all. He is super cute, I think, and I can imagine having a hamster in panda colors is super adorable, so I would definitely have a hamster like that in real life as well :D

The papercraft is unfolded to 18 cm and has 5 pages to print. Malachite (Steven Universe) commission

And yet another Steven Universe papercraft, and the gem fusion called Malachite. This she also only appeared in 1 episode, where Lapis then gained control over it etc.

As already said with this huge Steven Universe papercraft commission I am making, the papercraft is unfolded to 1 meter height, that's why the unfold looks as it does, since the commissioner will make them in a pretty big scale, so hopefully we get to see the pictures of these assembled soon.

All these are modeled, posed and textured by me, just saying it again, because I do all my stuff based on my own models and work. The model is all in 3D, same goes with the gem as her nose.

All that hands will be a pain to make, damn it’s like my worst nightmare papercraft to make, since I hate doing fingers so much XDDD I shudder just at the thought of having to do all those fingers XD NEVER! Good luck commissioner! XD I won’t be doing that.

Alexandrite (Steven Universe) commission

Another Steven Universe papercraft, and the gem fusion called Alexandrite. She is the fusion of all 3 main Crystal gems and looks pretty cool.

The model is all in 3D, same goes with the gem on her face, with separate 2D glasses, that will hopefully be cut out with orange colored foil, so it looks even cooler and more realistic.
